Be it CAT, XAT, IIFT, CMAT, MAT, SNAP or NMAT the confusion continuous to prevail in almost all exams.
For the benefit of MBA aspirants team MBA Rendezvous conducted a poll in cities of Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai and put questions to 51 respondents who were mainly last year aspirants. They were put 2 questions
(a) Do you think that sections of the exams overlap in each exam?
(b) If so how do you plan to take up each exam.?
The finding was that the syllabus for MBA entrance exam do overlap and to the 2nd question the finding was as below :
Further to understand it will be advisable to have recap on different exams.
CAT 2015 : This year CAT is being conducted 29th November, 2015 and the sections of the exam are Quantitative Ability which will comprise of 34 questions, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) this will comprise of 32 questions and Verbal Ability / Reading Comprehension (VRC) this will also comprise of 34 questions. CAT 2015 will be for 3 hours and each section will be allotted 60 minutes with a rider that none of the sections can be revisited after completion of the time.
IIFT : IIFT exam is being conducted on 22nd November, 2015 and sections would be Quantitative Analysis, Logical Reasoning, English Comprehension and General Knowledge on Current Affairs. The difference between CAT and IIFT is of Current Affairs.
XAT 2016 : XAT exam will be conducted in 1st Week of January, 2016 and XAT is also different from CAT that besides same sections GK differentiates this exam and Essay differentiates XAT from IIFT also. In XAT writing Essay for 20 minutes in a stipulated 200 words on assigned topic will be highly crucial.
CMAT : CMAT now will be conducted only once in a year and the next examination likely will be to be held in January, 2016. CMAT also have same sections as of IIFT but QA, LR and Language comprehension are the same in all exams.
Likewise MAT and NMAT also follow the above pattern.
Mock Tests form an integral part of preparations for any exam, certainly competitive exams such as MBA entrances. Preparation cannot be considered complete unless you solve a few mock tests, which are nothing but replicas of the kind of question papers you can expect in the main exam.
Just as a new born baby needs a mother to nurture and nourish him, especially in his formative years, the dreams that you see and the goals that you set for yourself, are your own baby that require your undiverted attention.
There is the only way to deal with the fear of the CAT exam- conquer it. Do not let it hinder your preparation but use it to push your limits.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that every single student who appears for entrance examinations to get into MBA, dreams of getting through to the biggest institutes of management in the country, that is the Indian Institutes of Management, spread across the country.
MBA is one of the most sought after courses among the student community and remains in demand despite the fluctuations in the job market.
