Recognizing the quality of management education and Internationalization at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, global accreditation body EFMD has awarded the prestigious EPAS International Accreditation to the institution. SDIMD Mysore is the first Indian B-school to receive EPAS accreditation. Based in Brussels, EFMD is an international organization of business schools and corporations with nearly 900 members from academia and business in 86 countries. EPAS Accreditation has been awarded to 102 programs in 75 B-schools and Universities including Curtin Graduate School of Business, Australia; HEC Management School, Belgium; Peking University HSBC Business School, China; Nottingham Business School, UK and Boston University Metropolitan College, USA.
Announcing the accreditation, EFMD, on Twitter, said, "Congratulations to SDMIMD on having their Post Graduate Diploma in Management programme EPAS Accredited!" Along with US headquartered AACSB and UK based AMBA, EFMD is recognized as one of the Top 3 global accreditation organization for business schools in the world.
Dr N R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD confirmed the development and said, "Yes, we have received the EPAS Accreditation from EFMD. We are excited that SDIMD is the first B-school in India to be awarded this accreditation."
With this accreditation, SDMIMD has become a part of EFMD's global network of B-schools and Universities that will provide SDMIMD with access to exchange programs, research programs and other collaborations.
Dr Parasuraman added, "We at SDMIMD feel that it is a validation for all the progress that the Institute has been making in both the academic and research fronts. The accreditation process involves meeting several rigorous international standards and procedures. What is even more heartening is that we took less than 2 years in completing the process."
In preparation for the accreditation, SDMIMD had collaborated with international management institutes of repute to conduct Student Exchange Programmes every year for an understanding of management from an international perspective. The B-school has Student Exchange Programs with Mays School of Business, Texas A&M University, USA; MBA Centre at Global Management Education Institute, Shanghai University, China; British University in Dubai; University of Dubai and University of Bordeaux, France & University of Montevideo, Uruguay.
EPAS accreditation system, awarded by EFMD, evaluates the quality of business and/or management programme that has an international perspective and, where of an appropriately high quality, to accredit it. The process involves a review in depth of individual programmes through international comparison and benchmarking. So far, EPAS accreditation has been given to 102 programmes from 75 institutions across the world. Programs at prestigious universities like Curtin Graduate School of Business, Curtin University, Australia; HEC Management School University of Liege, BELGIUM;Peking University HSBC Business School, China, ESC Rennes School of Business, France, Department of Business and Economics, Berlin School of Economics and Law, Germany, ALBA Graduate Business School, Greece; MIB School of Management, Italy; Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, UK; Boston University Metropolitan College, USA have been awarded the EPAS accreditation.
SDMIMD was established in 1994 and till date 21 batches of PGDM graduates have passed out from its portals, currently holding important positions in the Indian and foreign corporate and service organizations. Institute has a creditable placement record. The highest placement package offered at SDMIMD in 2016 is Rs.12 lakhs. The average salary offered to a SDMIMD student is Rs.6.5 lakhs. SDMIMD is promoted by the Sri Dharmasthala Trust, headed by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, a Padma Vibhushan awardee. Sri Dharmasthala Educational Trust, is an education initiative from Dharmasthala a temple town from Karnataka with over 40 educational institutions including medical,engineering and degree colleges.
