MICA’s annual marketing fest, MICANVAS, to be held from 18th to 20th November, 2016, kick started on Friday. The three day fest will see a plethora of events from panel discussions by imminent industry professionals, competitions, lectures, workshops, informal events and concerts. Participants from B Schools all over India arrived on campus today.
The fest started with the initial rounds of Last Manager Standing, its flagship event, which involves a multi level competition, where participants are given managerial and business problems of different formats to tackle. The event started with 18 participants from various B schools, battling for the title. Round 1 saw participants taking part in a utility trading simulation where participants had to manage inventory and resources and make the best use out of them in the given time. The competition utilises a combination of presence of mind, strategy and negotiations skills. Participants, Ashish Singh, from KJSIMSR, and Sachin Prakash, from IIM Shillong, appreciated the event and the immense learning they received from it. The event will go on for 3 days, as participants compete for the title and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh.
A workshop on ‘Creative Communication’ was conducted later in the day by Mr. Subhash Tendle, an academic professor of the CCC programme at MICA. The event, ‘Creative Communication Workshop’ which is a 2 session workshop, hosted in association with MiCompass, one of the student run committees of MICA, aims to sensitize the participants to the power of visuals through presentations and exercises. The theme of today’s session was using creative talent to be a better manager. He shed light on how often we tend to find “one” right answer to every problem. Anurodh Updadhyay, one of the students who attended the workshop, expressed his key takeaway from the session, “If you don’t ask, WHY this, people will ask WHY you?”
Later in the day, Mr. Kunal Jeswani, CEO, Ogilvy India, will deliver a keynote address as part of the MindSpeak session organised by MICA’s student run committee ‘MICA Leadership Series’. The next two days will play host to imminent industry panelists, participants from various B Schools for various interesting competitions including Radio Jockey contests, brand marketing events, start up related competitions, musical extravaganzas etc., ending in a performance by renowned artists Amit Trivedi and Neeti Mohan.
