Creativity is needed in order to break free from the temporary structures that have been setup by a particular sequence of experience and produce the most extraordinary results in human culture. With this belief, the students of IIM Raipur are organizing Equinox 7.0 in association with IDBI Bank; a fest which promises to be a Mega conclave of business acumen and cultural heritage to be held from 27th – 29th January 2017.
The team behind the event also revealed a glimpse of the event and its scale to local folks at Magneto mall and Ambuja mall. On the warm Sunday afternoon, the students of IIM Raipur performed flash mob at Magneto and Ambuja Mall and danced to the tunes of hit Bollywood numbers. The shoppers were taken by surprise when the students suddenly broke into a dance. The enthusiasm and energy was highly appreciated by the audience who within a matter of minutes grew many-folds making the flash mob were a success. This flash mob was intended for the promotion of IIM Raipur’s Equinox 7.0, eastern India’s premier B-school event.
Christened in 2011, Equinox, today, stands as one of the biggest business cum cultural fest to be reckoned in Eastern India within a short span of 5 years. The journey started from being a student driven initiative to celebrate talent, knowledge and culture in 2011. 2012 witnessed the major concert by the band "Indian Ocean", which opened up the footfall to even wider segments of students coming not only from premier b-schools but also from leading technological institutions.
By 2015, Equinox became the largest business cum cultural fest of the region witnessing a total of around 50,000 hits on the website and a footfall of over 8000 over 3 days. Today it is a national extravaganza of gargantuan proportions. It has evolved and diversified to become an epitome of unparalleled professionalism as well as raw fervour. Keeping up with the tradition, Equinox 7.0, sponsored by IDBI and co-sponsored by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, plans to grow bigger in terms of platform it provides for budding leaders and larger in terms of the audience it is able reach. The whole gamut of events will be conducted on 27th, 28th and 29th of January in one of the fastest growing cities of India, Raipur.
The public enjoyed this fete and participated with overwhelming enthusiasm. Narendra Verma, a city resident said that he enjoyed energetic performance of students and reminisced his college days. Archana Patra, a college student said that she was delighted by interacting with the students in a fun way and is definitely looking forward to attend the Equinox. According to Varshini Bhanu, a student at IIM Raipur, this event was not only a publicity event but also a chance to connect and enjoy with the people of Raipur city. Rishab Jolly, a Student at IIM Raipur, opined that music and dance is what brings people together and this Flash Mob is the right platform to gel with people.
This year the event is being organized on an unprecedented scale with a bigger budget and more participation than ever before. The various clubs of the college are gearing up to create the most challenging of competitions which will rack the brains of the best minds of the country on one hand and will provide unbridled fun to the participants on the other. One can also tune into MY FM, the radio partners of Equinox 7.0 .
