In its endeavor to make its contribution towards achieving academic excellence and the promotion of quality administration of technical institutions, Indian Institute of Management Raipur is organizing six days Faculty Development Program under Technical Education Improvement Program (TEQIP) II at VW Canyon during August 04-09, 2014. This is the first of six programs,the institute will organize during 2014.  This is being conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), Government of India, which has initiated the second phase of TEQIP for academic and administrative heads of higher educational institutions. IIM Raipur has been entrusted by the MHRD with the objectives of highlighting the importance of world class technical education and India’s status vis-a-vis same, identifying the gaps in the present system, processes and infrastructure and evolving the benchmarks for the delivery of education and resources management.The series of six programs is an outcome of learning of two-day conclave organized by Indian Institute of Management Raipur in May 2014.
 
Forty Professors and Associate Professors from engineering colleges across the states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Tripura are attending this program. Mr. Amit Agrawal, Secretary Technical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh, along with Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director IIM Raipur will inaugurate the program on August 04, 2014. This FDP is centered on various themes, namely Understanding Institutional Needs & Self, Learning & Teaching Methodology, Engaging Students, Achieving Excellence in Research and Managing People and other Resources.  
 
Prominent topics that shall be covered in the program include need and importance of achieving academic excellence, accreditations & Washington Accord, participant-centered learning, improving teaching-learning processes, evaluation and assessment techniques, using feedback for self-development, communication and behavioral skill, adapting to fast changing needs, counselling and mentoring of students, excellence in research, writing research proposal & managing research grants, information literacy, publishing in top class journals, managing academic resources, working together in a team, legal aspects in academic environment, building networks with industry, assessing self-strengths & weakness.
 
Live workshop with specialized experts will be conducted to train the faculty members around issues like counselling and mentoring. More such programs shall be organized for heads of institutions and administrative officials of the engineering colleges.
 
Prof. Sanjeev Prashar and Prof. M. Kannadhasan are the program coordinators for the first FDP.
