Adding yet another academic accolade in its cap, the Indian Institute of Management, Raipur has signed a first of its kind of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences,(AIIMS), Raipur on 19,March, 2014.
Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director IIM Raipur and Dr. N.M.Nagarkar, Director AIIMS in the presence of senior administrators like Mr.Neeresh Sharma, Deputy Director, AIIMS,
Dr. Ajay Nabi, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS, Dr. Anu Nagarkar,
Gr. Capt.Vivek Dubey, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Raipur, all the faculty members and students of IIM Raipur signed this MoU at IIM Raipur campus.
Prof. B.S.Sahay described that this MoU is the first of its kind, which has been signed by any IIM with AIIMS. There is a growing recognition in academia that a true creative society is only possible by linking various social capitals together to attain prosperity. He further said that the major purpose of this MoU is to establish a fruitful means to exchange knowledge, information and research, and to facilitate and enhance the interaction between two institutes.
This co-operation extends research and academic activities between these two organizations in the fields of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Management, Health Economics and Finance, Human Resource Management in Healthcare, Marketing and Advertisement of Policies and Services, Health Program Management and Evaluation, Community Healthcare Planning, Information Technology in healthcare and Hospital Administration. The MoU also aims to start an integrated course (short and long term) on Healthcare Management by utilizing the expertise and resource of both the institutes.
Dr.Nagarkar optimistically talked about the outcome of this relationship. He said that coming together of the two reputed institutes would serve as a strong platform to tackle issues of national and international importance. He was of the opinion that this MoU would help both the institutes in advancing knowledge for mutual benefits as well as for the benefits of the society. IIM Raipur and AIIMS Raipur shall collaborate to conceptualize certificate/ diploma courses in Healthcare/ Hospital Management, develop their course content and modules, and award co-branded certificates in the area of healthcare and hospital management.
IIM Raipur and AIIMS Raipur agreed to collaborate on academic issues like organizing specially designed short-term trainings, consulting, advisory and consulting services in the various areas of healthcare management in the state. This includes policy analysis, organizational restructuring and operational efficiencies in hospitals to ease out the plight of the patients.
Prof.B.S.Sahay emphasized on the complimentary role of management science in cost effective delivery of healthcare services to masses.
Answering the questions from the students about the future prospects and areas of growth, Dr. Nagarkar emphasized on the needs of organizing joint seminars, conferences, joint researches and workshops at regional and national levels to develop more effective methods in for strengthening the National Health care system. These institutes will also collaborate to develop and evaluate educational prototypes for the various categories of healthcare and family welfare planning personnel.
Prof Sahay described this MoU as a traverse between the two prestigious institutes in broadening the scope of academic activities and helping each other in capacity building. The symbiotic relationship, he said, would serve the broader purpose of establishing important institutes like AIIMS and IIM Raipur, and contribute meaningfully in social upliftment of the region.

Both the sides happily expressed their support and conveyed their best wishes for the academic collaboration between All India Institute of Management Science (AIIMS) and Indian Institute of Management, Raipur.
The event marks a proud moment in the history of both the prominent institutes. This new academic alliance will be a step to create new milestones in the times to come.
