Data Interpretation of any competitive exam has no particular syllabus. However, the questions based on Data Interpretation, always tests your speed and capability of making decisions & analyzing data. The data could be in any form, for instance in tabular form, diagram form, graph form, etc.
Here we are discussing few important tips for improving your grasp over this vital section in CMAT First Test 2013 exam:
1. Calculation skill should be improved
The first step towards improving your hold over this section is to improve your calculation skill. However, calculation cannot be improved by mere speed. For proper progress of this skill, it is essential that you work your accuracy part as well. Thus, you need to work on both accuracy and speed to improve this section enormously.
Speed of solving questions in this DI section can be increased by practicing these kinds of problems on regular basis. Vedic mathematics can benefit you a lot in increasing your speed. However, it is not mandatory to follow any fixed method for improving speed like following Vedic mathematics. If you are not comfortable in using this form of mathematics, please do not use it.
For improving your speed, you can also try to do mind calculations rather than using pencil or pen for same. In the starting it would take some time to do calculations in mind, but slowly and gradually you will see a mark difference in your speed.
2. Solving numerous types of questions based on different graphs, case-lets, etc.
For having a firm grip on this section, it is important for you to solve different types of case-lets and graph questions, instead of sticking to any one type of problem solving. You need to develop your skills for solving different kinds of case-lets.
3. Practise is the key and need of the hour
Data interpretation, as discussed above, is not a subject to be learned instantly with pre – defined syllabus. It requires maximum practice for improvement. Practice on a regular basis can do wonders in your speed as well as analyzing case-lets.
