Craze and thirst for football game is always there but there is a need to take it on more serious note so that football game should not be overshadow by other games like cricket. Performance and winning games at higher level needs equal dedication from both the administration and the players. Our football team should win some International titles to draw mass interest. Country’s sports department should provide more support, infrastructure at grass root level and international exposure along with good incentives to the players. No doubt that more involvement of past footballers like Gostha pal, Subimal Chuni Goswami, Inderpal singh, P K Bannerjee, Jarnil Singh Dhillion, leads to improve the status and help to enhance the football game in India.
There is a need to think and implement following steps to raise the bar of football game:
• Better Facilities to the player
• Making the game popular country wide through Media and other means of communication
• Giving chances for the youth
• More and more Football Academy for training children and prepare them for the future
• Strong dedication toward football
India’s highest paid footballer and also the captain of the Indian football team, Baichung Bhutia quoted that ‘life of a footballer India is very limited. He feels that India has immensely talented players, but the training standards have to be bettered.’
Foreign coaches should be appointed to coach teams. All clubs and state associations should start youth academies. It is observed that Indians don't play football in a way it has to be played. So foreign assistance especially from europe & latin america is unavoidable. More focus should be given to juniors. More tournaments are to be conducted at youth levels. India is home to many rich people so if they approached in right manner funds can be raised. Professional clubs can contribute a lot to the game. They should appoint foreign coaches assisted by Indian coaching officials.
At present Indian football team have awesome players but a there is a need to generate more interest among the views. Good sponsorship and media coverage can play a vital role to take this game at high level.
Hope one day India will come up with world championships and Indian Football will also improve and reach greater heights to challenge the power houses of Football like Brazil & Argentina.
