How TAPMI can make you industry fit for BKFS?

T.A. Pai Management Institute or TAPMI is one of the leading Business Schools in the country. Spread across 42 acres on a hillock, TAPMI provides modern infrastructure and facilities in the picturesque setting of Manipal, Karnataka. Founded in 1980 by MR TonseAnanthPai, TAPMI is ranked among the top 20 business schools in India. Recognized by AICTE and AIU, TAPMI was also credited by the world’s most recognized business accreditation, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in April 2002, a feat accomplished by only 4 schools in India.

TAPMI assures quality education to its students and makes them fit for the industry. One of its most sought after courses is PGDM- Banking and Financial Services (equivalent to an MBA degree). The training that students undergo at TAPMI grounds them well in these essential components of any business. The curriculum structure builds a student’s skills and knowledge in finance. The first year covers accounting, finance, economics and banking courses, and the second year offers specialised training in either banking or capital markets.  The course is designed to help students kick start managerial careers in the fields of banking and financial services with leading national and multinational banks and financial institutions.

In terms of infrastructure, TAPMI meets the requirements of the changing times. The world-class Financial Lab, powered by Bloomberg India distinguishes TAPMI from other schools in India and offers an incredible opportunity to the students to get acquainted with how markets work in reality. The state-of-the-art lab provides students bridges the gap between financial theory and practice and is supported by live data feed from international financial markets. It provides students with hands-on experience in Investments and Portfolio Management, Forecasting, Risk Management and understanding of Global Capital Markets. All this is excellent preparation for their careers ahead.

The BKFS programme also requires students to undergo Student Managed Investment Course (SMIC). Each student is provided Rs 25000, resulting in a corpus of Rs 10 lakhs to invest in real markets.  TAPMI is the only business school in the country to run a course where students are given real money to invest in financial markets. The purpose of this is to provide real time experience to the students and help them understand how the financial markets work and train them in making considered decisions. To add to this, the Summer Training, Winter Project, live projects and simulations all provide a chance to students to apply their classroom knowledge to solve complex business problems. This is a significant in ensuring that the students who pass out from TAPMI are prepared to assume any role in the business world.

The programme is a full time residential programme with an intake of 60 students. A candidate must have valid GMAT/XAT/CAT scores to move on to the subsequent rounds consisting of WAT and Personal Interview.

That the programme is valued by the industry for the quality of output that it produces can be gauged by the companies that visit for placements, offering 100% placements in positions such as Executive, Research Associate, Business Associate, Asst. Manager, MT and so on.

TAPMI makes a defining impact in preparing students in the core areas of banking and finance, such that they are ready to face all challenges arising in the course of their careers.
