Indian Institute of Management Raipur is organizing a 6 days ‘Management Development Program’ for the Department of Economics & Statistics, to propagate and inculcate fresh thinking, knowledge enhancement, leadership, planning and other behavioral aspects. With an ever-changing, increasingly connected and competitive world, managers need to constantly update their knowledge and professional capabilities in all areas affecting their work and career. IIM Raipur will be training the officers of the Department of Economics & Statistics as a part of this six-days training program to be conducted in the campus from 12th to 17th January, 2015.
Directorate of Economics and Statistics is designated as a nodal agency for carrying out various statistical activities of the State. At Districts level all the 27 districts have “District Planning and Statistical Office” working under DES and Block Level Investigators are working under districts offices. The various statistical activities include: co-ordination, area survey, and data collection/analysis on different subjects, tabulation, provide data/statistics to Government, Scholars, planners and researchers and the representation of compiled data.
About thirty technical officers of Class II and above, managing the DES, both on State and District level from across the states of Chhattisgarh will be attending this program. The participants include Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, DPSOs and ASOs, from across various districts in Chhattisgarh. This MDP is centered on various themes which include:Financial Management, Time Management, Strategic Management, Effective Communication and Macroeconomic Implications, covering all important management disciplines.
Prominent topics that shall be covered in the program include:Assessing Self Strengths & Weakness;Importance and Analysis of Macroeconomic Data: Implications for Policy;Developing a Strategy and its Implementation; Methods and Tools of Data Collection/Choice Modelling; Understanding and Analyzing Data using Data Mining Techniques; Developing Personal mission vision and objectives Committing to the Organization; Measuring Development Using data and its Implications; Building Effective Interpersonal Relations; Policy and Delivery Design in Public Sector; Building Teams and Collaborative Culture, Conflict Resolution; Internal Marketing; Leadership and Time Management.
The objective of the program is to enable the participants to enhance their role as decision maker and understand the implications of finance, economics and strategy on analysis and planning. After this program the officers would be better equipped to converse the relevant financial and economic issues and will help them take better strategic decisions. The pedagogy will be a suitable combination of classroom lectures, interactive discussions, class exercises, case studies and experience sharing. Both the conceptual and practical side of finance will be discussed. The sessions would be taken by the faculty members of IIM Raipur and coordinated by Prof. Sanjeev Prashar and Dr. Vinita Sahay, professors of IIM Raipur.
