The guest lecture at Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, organized by the Corporate and Media Interaction Cell, was of paramount triumph.Mr. Arnab Sengupta, National Head - Modern Trade, B2B & Business Development at Emami Biotech Limited graced us with his presence and educated us with his expert opinion.

In his profound lecture that was titled ‘Made in India’, Mr. Sengupta initially talked about how India easily gives in to insulation while it shouldn’t, and try to excavate new export opportunities to balance out the existing deficit because commodity imports cannot be checked as they are absolute necessities.

He urged that our Nation must try and establish hegemony over others in brand recognition. Having mentioned about the conservative mindset of Indian traders that seems to have been in a straightjacket over a large period of the post- Independence era, he moved on to various measures and prospective solutions that may help alleviate this issue.
At one point during the lecture he was disheartened by India’s Olympics run over the years, and stressed on the role sports play in a Nation’s esteem.

He then chiseled into his core speech which instilled in us, a rejuvenated vigor about working on 5 important facets; a collective dream, passion, goals, focus and direction. As he moved to the end of his speech, he highlighted the importance of learning history, the graveness forecasting holds in businesses, and psychological maturity.

He also encouraged not to blame the government over trifling matters that could instead be sorted out by ourselves with a little bit of deep thinking.

In conclusion, he inspired us to hunt for non-creamy, bright children who have the prospects of coming up with great innovations by setting up intra-college organizations which cater to their needs and inhibitions. He believed that such initiatives would spur talent recognition and in the long run lead to redefining India’s outlook.

Mr. Sengupta, the retail Yoda with his gratifying session on Brand Imaging, dazzled the audience at VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur.
