Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad will be holding the Convocation for the graduating batch of PGDM 2012 at IMT Ghaziabad campus on March 17, 2012.  Country’s honorable Union Minister of Finance, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the Convocation Address.

The Chief Guest along with IMT Ghaziabad Director, Dr Bibek Banerjee and Shri Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Urban Development, Government of India and President, Board of Governors, IMT would then award the diplomas to the successful students of the various PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management Programs) The event would also be marked with the traditional IMT Ghaziabad way of felicitating the distinguished alumnus for the year.

The Convocation 2012 will be organized on the theme - Business 2.0: Envisioning Business for Sustainability & Development.  The Convocation theme promises to explore the role of the contemporary business leader who is entrusted with the responsibility of harnessing human capacity to the fullest in order to achieve organizational goals.

Talking about the theme, Dr Banerjee said, “Business 2.0 is a proactive effort by businesses to stay ahead of the game by developing and redesigning business models taking into account the various factors towards becoming sustainable and successful. IMT, being a thought leader in management education and development, has taken this initiative to highlight the various challenges and opportunities that come with adoption of Business 2.0 by the public and private entities alike.”

While commenting on the theme, Prof Sadanand Prusty, Professor of Economic Environment & Strategy of IMT Ghaziabad said that earlier competition was less and options were few. Ever since the 1990s, with the opening up of the economy, availability of similar products from different brands is common.  The focus for corporates, a few years ago was on the simple goal of profit maximization which has now broadened to include sustainability and ethics as well. Earlier the companies followed a hire and fire policy which has now given way to grooming, developing and retaining employees. The need of sustainability in business is now universally accepted.

Another senior Professor of Information Technology of IMT Ghaziabad , Prof. Surinder Batra notes that Accelerated Mobility, ubiquitous nature of IT and virtual merger of personal time with work time have led to a major transition in value creation mechanisms in the enterprises. These trends are very much relevant to the B-school curricula. IMT Ghaziabad is now in the process of updating their course according to the changing requirements of companies that primarily focus on values and ethics to achieve their objectives.”
