Established in 1991, MICA (formerly known as Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad), is the only residential institute in the country and perhaps in the Asia-Pacific region, dedicated to creating Leadership in Strategic Marketing and Communication. Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C)

MICA's flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C) grooms business leaders with a focus on creative thinking, consumer-centricity, communication and community outreach. The PGDM-C, equivalent to an MBA, has evolved into one of the premier programmes in the country, endorsed by 100 per cent campus placements with the best corporate houses in India and in recent times, abroad as well. MICA's stringent selection norms coupled with the rigour of the curriculum ensure a highly committed, creatively and innovatively anchored, professionally-oriented manager, skilled in the practice of Strategic Marketing and Communication for the industry and the society. This programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Association of Indian University (AIU), which equates it with an MBA degree. MICA compares favourably with the top B-Schools and top MBA colleges in India. It is, of course, considered to be the premier institute in Strategic Marketing and Communication.

Eligibility

Admission to the PGDM (C) programme requires a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 system) or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of   Indian Universities (AIU). Candidates appearing for final examinations towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply.

Candidates who demonstrate aptitude for expressing, assessing, and /or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted.

At MICA, a unique trilogy of students, faculty and learning resources produces some of the best minds in the country. Consequently, many of our alumni hold some of the top managerial positions today, across companies in India and abroad. MICA's students come from diverse backgrounds, which helps them to examine managerial issues from multiple perspectives. Some of the unique characteristics of our students include academic excellence, leadership qualities and a deep-rooted respect for culture and values.

The admission process is a rigid one, beginning with the MICA Admission Test (MICAT), followed by a round of group exercises and personal interviews. Students are given a rigorous training in different functional areas of marketing communication, such as brand management, marketing research, media management, digital media and account planning and are exposed to the best of corporate practices. Teaching methods and learning pedagogy at MICA include lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, role plays, simulation exercises, structured and unstructured group work, as well as field visits. The emphasis is on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements.

There are three kinds of placements at MICA :

Summer Placements

This internship provides students with an opportunity to gain work experience in an area of concentration or interest while receiving credit towards their diploma. The summer internship is organised for 8-10 weeks in various advertising agencies, media and marketing organisations during the summer break at the end of the first year of the programme. No student is admitted to the second year without completing the summer internship.
The summer placement procedure starts around the month of September.

Lateral Placements

The lateral placement process caters to students with substantial prior work experience. These students are offered positions above the entry level at various organisations.

Final Placements

MICA has maintained a 100% placement record since the past few years. The final placement procedure starts around the month of December.

Manmeet Vohra

Manmeet Vohra - 2000-2002 batch of PGDBM

Manmeet Vohra is an alumnus from the 2000-2002 batch of PGDBM. She has an experience of more than eleven years in marketing with about 10 years in luxury industry, a major chunk of which was from TAG Heuer and L’Oreal. Her key strengths are marketing, retail, 360 Degree Product Management, PR, Attention to Detail. She has been a special guest speaker at many prestigious MBA institutes like IIT-Bombay, Mudra Institute Of Communications-Ahmedabad and SCMHRD, Pune, etc.

She started her career with JWT as a Client Servicing Executive after which she took up the role Marketing Manager at TAG Heuer. She then moved to L’Oreal India as a Senior Product Manager where she worked for brands like Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani. She was also instrumental in launching the Biotherm brand in India. After a yearlong stint in L’oreal she moved back to TAG Heuer where she worked for around 5 years as the Marketing Director where she handled 60 degree New Product Management, Marketing Budget, Advertising, Media, PR, Social Media, Events, Market Research and Visual Merchandising. Currently she has taken up the role of Director - Marketing and Category at TATA Starbucks India and is responsible for the Starbucks brand marketing and PR in India.

She has also won the Powerbrands Hall of Fame Award for the Most Dynamic Marketing Professional of the Year 2011.

Prasad Venkatraman

Prasad Venkatraman, CCC stream

Prasad Venkatraman, is our alumnus from the CCC stream. He has an experience of over 11 years working for organizations like Publicis Ambience , McCann Erickson, BBDO and Percept/H. He started his career with Publicis Ambience Advertising in 2004 as a Senior Copywriter where he served for 3 years before joining McCann Erickson as Group Head in 2007. He continued with McCANN Erickson till 2010 when he shifted to BBDO, Sri Lanka. After working with BBDO till January 2012 as the Group Creative Director he came back to Mumbai to work with Percept/H as the Creative Director. He had then joined Black Swan Life as a senior creative director. He has lately joined Lowe Lintas and Partners as a Creative Director.

Over his career, he has worked on huge brands like Vaseline, Maybelline (L'Oreal), The Economic Times, Onida, Nerolac, EsselWorld Theme Park, UB Group, Canon ,Cathay Pacific, Parachute Aftershower, Hero MotoCorp, Big Cinemas, Olympus, Pantaloons, Nirlep non-stick cookware, The MobileStore and Sunburn Music Festival.
