NMIMS commenced its journey 32 years ago as a Management Institute recognized by the Mumbai University. On the basis of SVKM’s invaluable contribution to the field of education, particularly in management learning, the institute was accorded the Deemed University status in 2003 by the Government of India, as per UGC recommendations.

Since then, the University has grown phenomenally, venturing into areas as diverse as technology, pharmacy, architecture, analytical science, commerce, and business education. It has broken new ground by offering the five year integrated MBA Tech. program, a unique combination of engineering and management; likewise, MBA Pharma Tech, an amalgam of Pharma Technology and Management, has also been introduced.

The University plans to set up campuses across India to address the need for quality education, thereby creating a pool of topnotch professionals.

SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University (as per UGC Norms) , declared as Deemed University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 in 2003, emerged from the erstwhile India’s Top Ten Business School – NarseeMonjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). As a Business School, it was set up in 1981 and by 1993 emerged as one of the Top Ten Business Schools in India. Our parent body, Shri Vile ParleKelavani Mandal has an excellent track record of contributing to the cause of education for the last 75 years. On accreditation in 1999, an opportunity of becoming a University was available to NMIMS. Shri Vile ParleKelavani Mandal, whose footprints were already there in primary, secondary and higher education in Management, Technology, Commerce and Economics, Arts and Science decided to seek the opportunity. Based on the performance and the commitment of the Shri Vile ParleKelavani Mandal, NarseeMonjee Institute of Management Studies was declared Deemed University in 2003 under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

The University was first accredited by NAAC in 1999 with a 5 star rating and subsequently reaccredited with grade A by NAAC in 2006. The Government of India conferred on the University permanent recognition in 2008.

Our belief is that the faculty plays a significant role in influencing careers and in some cases the destiny of the students of the University. Hence development of faculty who will play this role is of utmost importance to us. It is towards this end that we have an understanding with leading institutions like Harvard Business School for development of our faculty.

The University aims to create a learner centric environment. We hope to create a learning experience for all our participants, an experience that will impact their careers and their lives.

Consequently, there is need in the corporate world of trained manpower in the respective fields at different levels.

SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University has always been in the forefront to cater to the needs of the Society and in turn the corporates. Taking into consideration the need of the industry, the University started various schools with different specializations at the under-graduate and post-graduate levels. The students at all levels are not only given theoretical academic inputs but they are also given industry exposure.

Fees

Fees for academic year 2015 – 2016 for MBA Program were 7,50,000/- (For information only). The Fees for academic year 2016-2017 will be informed during CD/PI.

Admission Process

Stage 1 – NMAT by GMAC™ Exam is a mandatory requirement for applying to NMIMS University programmes. For more information please visit www.nmat.org.in. The score of the NMAT by GMAC™ exam for all the NMIMS applicants will be submitted by GMAC to NMIMS (Deemed to-be-University).

Stage 2 – Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview (PI) only for shortlisted candidates 

Stage 3 – Candidates’ academic performance, relevant work experience and other similar inputs. It is mandatory for candidates to fill in the application form on www.nmims.edu to confirm his candidature and be in the NMIMS admission programs for 2016-18 Batch.

The NMIMS School of Business Management, Mumbai has had a cracker of a placement season this year. We are proud of achieving this feat and wrapping up placements of the highest batch size in record time. We would like to express sincere gratitude to the corporate world for endorsing its immense faith in our MBA students and enabling us to continue our legacy of excellence.

Leading companies from a multitude of sectors participated in Final Placements offering sought-after profiles with competitive packages. With multiple profiles on offer, students had a plethora of options to make informed decisions to shape their career. From amongst the 160 companies for 565 students across programs, 45 participated for the first time and a few visited after a hiatus. The recruiter portfolio comprised a healthy mix of recruiters from traditional sectors and fast growing start-ups and ecommerce firms. Further, 205 students, with their superlative effort during summer internships and reputed corporate competitions were awarded PPOs/PPIs by highly coveted companies. Likewise, Summer Placements witnessed the involvement of 180 coveted companies, which were delighted with the quality of the students.

The placement activities were augmented by a vast variety of innovative Campus Engagement initiatives, which gave companies access to our talent pool and also provided students opportunities to learn from the industry stalwarts. Such initiatives helped us build a bridge between recruiter expectations and student aspirations.
