EPSI & AIMS are determined to protect autonomy of 350 plus PGDM Institutions !

In December, 2010, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a notification to arbitrarily withdraw the autonomy of 350 plus PGDM institutions. It has created a big crises in Indian Management Education which could be avoided with the nationwide movement of autonomous management institutions under active leadership of the EPSI and the AIMS. These two national bodies pursued the matter at highest level including then Union MHRD Minister Mr KAPIL Sibal . When it could not be resolved by the MHRD, PGDM institutions knocked the doors of the Supreme Court. EPSI and the AIMS engaged some top notch legal luminaries in the country for pleading the case including Mr K K Venugopal, who has recently been appointed as the Solicitor General of India. Other senior lawyers were Dr Rajiv Dhawan, Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Mr Gopal Sankaranarayanan and Mr Naresh Kaushik.

Today after 7 years continuous stay through several interim orders of the Supreme Court, the matter is coming up for the final hearing. Both EPSI and AIMS have done all legal preparations and once again put up Senior lawyer Mr Gopal Shankarnarayan. Dr H. Chaturvedi, Alternate President, EPSI and Dr Baviskar, President, AIMS have expressed hope that the autonomy of PGDM institutions will be protected in the final hearing.
