MICA hosts Seminar on Startups India and the Role of Libraries

“A library is the delivery room for the birth of ideas, a place where history comes to life”.
MICA’s Knowledge Exchange and Information Centre (KEIC), an exclusive centre for advertising, media, marketing, and related information, believes in the same idea.  MICA hosted a seminar on Startups India and Role of Libraries and the talk focussed on how dynamic libraries can play an active role in transforming the Indian society into an enterprising one by providing learning spaces, maker spaces, access to internet, access to numerous subscribed and free online resources, and many more services. The seminar was conducted at the Mani Ayer Auditorium.

It began with a welcome speech by Ms. Rhoda Barucha, Director, ADINET and was followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta, President, MICA. Ms. Rhoda introduced various initiatives of KEIC and informed about the Knowledge Park developed by KEIC on the MICA campus. She thanked Mr. Mehta, Mr. P.K. Laheri, Chairman, ADINET and MICA’s management for organizing the seminar at their premises.

Mr. Mehta welcomed all the dignitaries to MICA and thanked Ms. Bharucha for choosing Startups India and Role of Libraries as the theme for the event. He talked about his experience with start-ups and explained how the role of libraries has changed over a period of time.

A variety of speakers were invited for the seminar and they spoke about the interdependence between libraries and startups and the recent developments in both the areas.

Before concluding the seminar, all the invited guests were offered mementoes by Mr. Mehta and it ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Shailesh Yagnik, Head, KEIC, MICA.
