The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), established in 1979 by the father of white revolution Dr Verghese Kurien, is a pioneering academic institution in rural management education and research. The Institute vision is to make continuous and significant contributions to the transformation of rural India through (a) leadership in cutting-edge knowledge creation, (b) innovations in education, (c) pursuance of the ethical imperative of sustainability, and (d) policy-oriented research. The mission to promote sustainable, ecologically-friendly, and equitable socio-economic development of rural people through professional management. It is AICTE approved. When we achieved independence nearly seven decades ago, India was primarily an agrarian economy with a majority of the population dependent on agriculture and rural livelihoods; and even today a large percentage of our population continue to be dependent on agriculture. In the fifties and sixties, India was not fully self-sufficient in foodgrains as well as livestock products like milk with imports accounting for a substantial share of domestic consumption. Much of this would not have been possible without the professionals that helped these institutions to grow. Recognizing the need for an exclusive institution, Dr Verghese Kurien was instrumental in setting up Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), to fulfill the mission of developing a cadre of professional managers who would serve not only producer institutions but also other development organizations that would help in all-round development of our rural areas.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management)

IRMA's Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management) prepares talented young managers to assume challenge-filled responsibilities in organizations that serve under-served communities in rural and urban India. The PGDM (RM) is a two-year fully residential managerial programme.

•      A Graduate from any discipline, with a minimum of 15 years of education.

•      50 percent or above (45 percent or above for SC/ST/OBC (NC)/General (EWS)/PwD*) aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA at the graduation level.

•      Students in final year of their graduation can apply if they expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before Sep 2023.

Stage I: Short-listing based on CAT/XAT/CMAT Scores

• Candidates will be short listed on the basis of their CAT 2022 / XAT 2023 / CMAT 2022 scores.
• Students will be informed on the shortlist decision through email / SMS to their registered email address and mobile number.

Stage II: Interview Process

The stage II of IRMA admissions process consists of Online Written Ability Test (OWAT), and Personal Interview (PI).
