There are people who are reliable and people who are not. The reliable people build their reliability by being consistent over a period of time whereas unreliable people cannot be trusted because their behaviour fluctuates and is never consistent. Yet, occasionally, the latter may prove right. |
A. Trust is a quality that does not develop instantly. It builds over time. A person who wins your trust has proved to be a reliable person, demonstrating consistency and proving to be correct most of the times, over a period of time. Reliability and trust are important components of a business. An entrepreneur would like to associate with people he/she can depend on and people who have proved to be right for him/her. As stakes are high, there is little scope for any departure.
B. An unreliable person cannot command respect, faith and trust of colleagues, as there is an element of risk involved in associating with such a person. Even though, such a person might prove useful occasionally or offer a good suggestion, but the chances of somebody believing in him/her are less.
C. It is a matter of certainty. Though life is full of risks, there is a yearning for certainty and stability in most people. Even businesses run on the principle of risks. Often, the progress of a business depends on the risk taking appetite of the management. However, the risk is a calculated one. It’s a good feeling to be able to have a sense of predictability which leads to a sense of control over things.
D. Taking a different view of things, I feel that nothing in the world that is ever completely wrong. The given statement proves that even the most unreliable of people can prove to be right occasionally, by luck or accident. Just as a non-functional clock ends up showing the right time twice a day, similarly, people in the habit of making mistakes can end up being right sometimes.
E. In life too, if you are broken or facing difficulties, the awareness of your situation can help you be right and you can try to sort your life out. But if you think you’re on track, and actually you’re not, you will be lost.
F. The expression is also meant to point out that being right occasionally is no proof that someone has good judgment on that topic. Also, this may mean that people get lucky and are undeservedly successful. A person, known to be unreliable, may get lucky and successful as compared to a reliable person.
Thus, not everyone will be right all the time just as not everyone will be wrong all the time. Therefore, it is important to treat a person, a situation on merit. |
