I am pleased to welcome you to our website. The Amrut Mody School of Management (AMSoM), Ahmedabad University, is proud to be the first MBA Institute in Gujarat to have Grade A accreditation from NAAC.

MBA

The MBA program offered by AU is well-known in the region for its contemporary syllabus and forward looking approach to management education. The current programme offers its students flexibility to pace his degree and learning through the credit-based education where they can decide their credits and choose from a multitude of courses offered by other programs of AU and other allied Universities like CEPT beyond the regular Finance, Marketing and Human Resource courses. The current course offering from the MBA program stands at over 80 courses which is sure to go up with every successive year.

Apart from the regular placements, the centres established by AMSOM, hand-holds students to nurture and hone entrepreneurial skills and provide trainings, assignments and live projects in the field of culture and heritage. ‘Venture Studio’- systematically nurtures and guides start-up ventures while Centre of Heritage Management provides exposure to professional opportunities in the domain of art and culture.

The program is currently targeted at notching up at all quarters to enforce inquiry-based, practice-oriented teaching and learning which is the need of the industry.

Masters In Management Studies (Heritage Management)

Masters Programme in Heritage Management is a new two years degree programme of its kind in India. It emphasizes on critical understanding of heritage, and holistic management approach to heritage sector. The areas of exploration within the curriculum include diverse range of heritage sectors spanning tangible and intangible, cultural and natural, historic and contemporary/living, and so on, but with a strong emphasis on holistic approach to heritage management. The programme is about processes of understanding and working in heritage sector, and NOT about learning specific heritage as such.

The programme can be pursued by people aspiring to serve various sectors of heritage management in India and abroad, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in arts, architecture, archaeology, business, commerce, culture, history, museum studies etc. The course demands demonstrated experience or inclination to undertake a profession in heritage management.

Programme begins with a week-long ‘Inaugural Seminar’ prior to commencement of regular coursework. Each semester includes a workshop or a studio course where students engage in a real life scenario as their project work. At the end of the first semester, a week long field-immersion programme will enrich the students’ understanding of heritage issues in a given context. After the second semester, the students need to pursue a ten to twelve weeks long practicum – an internship programme with explicit learning objectives and a research paper. In the second year, students take elective courses as per their interest along with preparations for thesis work. The final semester is reserved for thesis work, which is expected to be presented at an international conference.

Entrepreneurial MBA

Ahmedabad University conducts the Entrepreneurial-MBA, a 2 year full-time programme under the aegis of the Amrut Mody School of Management (AMSoM) to train and harness the potential of brilliant minds of today and shape them into the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

The curriculum of EMBA programme has been specially designed for aspiring entrepreneurs. It is a master training program to capitalize on entrepreneurial strengths of the participants, family strengths if the participant belongs to family business background and to professionalize a family business to drive high performances while ensuring shareholder loyalty and sustaining healthy family relationships.

To insure the right outcomes through the course curriculum, all the courses have been developed keeping in centre the course philosophy which revolves around three 'R's. I) Rigour II) Relevance III) Relationships.

This philosophy has been kept in heart while designing the entire EMBA curriculum. The courses offer projects and theories that are relevant to the participant's businesses, in a highly rigours manner. The third 'R' is about strengthening the relations of all stakeholders of the program. The provisions are made in each course to provide opportunities to strengthen the relations amongst different stakeholders of the program.

The curriculum is designed to help the next generation entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level. The curriculum focuses on developing a complete understanding of one's own business, confidence to take it ahead and ability to strategize for further growth.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Eligibility:

  • Candidates who have appeared for either CAT 2016 conducted by (IIMs) / CMAT 2017 / XAT 2017 / MAT 2016-17 (only May 2016, September 2016, December 2016 and February 2017 scores) are eligible to apply.
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent CGPA, of any University incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956.
  • The Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  • In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor's degree.
  • In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the school by dividing earned CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the quotient with 100.
  • A candidate who has appeared for the final year examination of bachelor's degree or equivalent can also apply. Such candidate must produce a certificate from the authority of the of the university/ institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks (i.e. all the years’ grade/marks except the final year grade/marks).
  • Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit such certificate latest on the registration date notified by the school.
  • However, admission will be confirmed provided that final mark sheet and degree certificate are submitted not later than December 1, 2017 and if the candidate has met the prescribed eligibility criteria. Non-fulfilment of the above conditions/dates will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

Selection Process:

  • Candidates who have taken CAT 2016 / CMAT 2017 / MAT 2016-17 / XAT 2017 and seek admission in the MBA programme at AMSOM, must apply in the prescribed form.
  • Based on the cut-off as decided by the admissions committee, candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). All the shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for GD and PI at AMSOM campus on specified date(s). These dates will be announced and the schedule will be put up on the website
