To meet the growing demand for management education, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) established Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in 1981. In 2003, it became a deemed to be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. It is a multi-disciplinary university with campuses across western and southern India.
