MICA was established in 1991 by the Mudra Foundation under the aegis of Mr. AG Krishnamurty. Initially, its prime focus was on advertising and related communication areas. In the 32 years of its existence, it has meandered its way to become one of India’s leading business school that produces professionals in the field of Advertising, Branding, Digital, Data Entrepreneurship, and Marketing. Unlike any other B-School, MICA is a ‘School of Ideas’ which focuses on nurturing the creative and analytical brains of its students transforming them into able leaders
MICA has continuously been striving in producing leaders and not managers. Some of its objectives since its inception have been:
Produce leaders in Strategic Marketing and Communication
MICA is one and the only institute where the core courses are in areas like Marketing, General Management, Communication, Digital, Media and Advertising. Besides, the specialization courses purely focus on Strategic Marketing and Communication. Some of them are Advertising Management, Brand Management, Digital Communication Management, Marketing Research and Analytics, and Media Management.
Nurture individuals for the digitally enabled age, who can brand, communicate, strategize, and market themselves as leaders
Apart from the academic courses, the various student committees like MICAMINDS, MICANVAS and MICA Lecture Series work towards shaping the personality of MICAns as real leaders of the digital age.
Encourage entrepreneurs who create a business that focuses primarily on - Branding, Digital, and Marketing
The MICA Incubator was launched with the support from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The aim is to support and encourage initiatives that are specific to the communications sector. In fact for the students who join MICA, the seeds of entrepreneurship are sowed on the first day itself when they go through an entrepreneurship workshop.
Aim to integrate the left brain (analytical skills) – right brain (creative skills) learning
While short listing candidates through the MICAT exam, students are tested not only on their analytical abilities but majorly on their creative and out of the box thinking aspect. MICA amalgamates management and science topics along with social sciences. While students are taught Strategic Marketing and Brand Management, they are also exposed to subjects like Imagining India, Semiotics, and Cultural Contexts of Communication.
MICA offers a plethora of online courses and MDPs in business management, strategic marketing, brand management, marketing analytics, corporate and culture communication subjects.
In addition to the above it offers three residential programmes:
Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Communications (PGDM-C)
Fellow Programme in Management- Communications (FPM-C)
Crafting Creative Communication (CCC)
MICA, its students and faculty members have won numerous accolades. MICA has proved its mettle not only in India but internationally as well. In 2011 the Gujarat Government recognized MICA as a training institute for its officials.
