Difference between PGDM and MBA:

PGDM programs are offered by autonomous institutions under the guidance of AICTE and it is equivalent to an MBA program. PGDM programs are flexible and from time to time the curriculum is revised and designed according to the requirement of the industry. In PGDM programs, students can either opt for a one year program or other two year programs, according to their preferences. The program targets practical teaching and provides real-life challenges faced by the industry professionals. The PGDM program is expensive and the fees start from 3 lakh+.

On the other hand, the MBA programs are offered by the colleges which are affiliated with any universities. The MBA programs are rigid and the curriculums are not revised for a very long period of time because the updated curriculum required university approval. The program is 2 years long and is mostly based on technical and theoretical learnings. As compared to the PGDM program, MBA programs are affordable because the fee structure is maintained according to the policy of the university.

Post Graduation Diploma in Management - Scope:

The scope of the PGDM course is very wide, it opens various perspectives for the students from different fields like marketing, business analytics, banking and finance, supply chain and many more. The program develops the managerial and leadership qualities and trains them for the industry. With new ideas and creative business models, a student can start his own company or work as a freelancer post the completion of the course. The demand for professionals with management qualifications is quite high not only in India but also abroad. So, pursuing PGDM will be a plus point for one who wants to understand the in-depth functioning of the industry as well as want to make a successful career in the management field.

Conclusion:

PGDM provides wide options to the students from marketing to operation management, from supply chain management to healthcare management. Post completion of the course, students start analysing the situation with a different perspective and develop the ability to manage large projects with full efficiency.
