Indian Institute of Management Raipur is organizing a four day Orientation Programme for its second batch of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) from Thursday, June 27, 2013 to June 30, 2013.
Prof. Laxman Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Central University, Bilaspur and also BoG member of IIM Raipur has kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest for the occasion.
He will inaugurate the four day Orientation Programme. Prof Nitin Madhusudan Nagarkar, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur will be the Keynote speaker for the occasion.
This four day Orientation Programme includes lectures by prominent personalities like Mr S. Chandrashekhar, Vice President India & SA, IBM, Mr. Pradeep Tandon Executive Vice President, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, Mr Ram Kumar, Executive Director & Board Member, ICICI Bank, Mr. Tarun Chauhan, Managing Partner, JWT and personalities that represent the state of Chhattisgarh like Mr Aman Singh, Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh, Dr. B.L. Tiwari, Development Commissioner, Chhattisgarh. The guest lectures are aimed at ascension of thought process of the incoming batch and to instill in them critical thinking.
The four day programme is aimed at acquainting the students with modern management education, its scope, its functional areas, and design of the Fellow Programme in Management at IIM Raipur. The meticulously structured Orientation Programme will acquaint the students with the teaching and learning methods used in the Institute with special emphasis on the case method.
It will also focuss on making the students aware of the various learning styles which helps them estabilish linkages between their life’s goal and management education. There will be an emphasis on providing an overall development to the students, thus honing their problem solving skills, increasing their affinity to innovation and their passion to creativity. This will help students to realise the expectations of the institute.
The Orientation Programme also targets at aligning the students with industry expectations and to develop a global mindset to be able to understand the social, economic, technological and ecological environment in order to develop the skill to address the challenges of a global competition and develop them into capable leaders and ambassadors of the state of Chhattisgarh. The idea behind this programme is to promote holistic development of the students through a mix of activities.
Students will start the days with Yoga session which will help them maintain their energies to develop mental thought process throughout the day. Management simulation games are also being organised on first and second day of the program which will help foster the attributes of leadership, and team playing abilities.
The simulation exercise will also help students to adopt alternate thinking. Besides lectures by spiritual leaders like Swami Vyomapada Das (ISCKON) on ‘Values and Ethics in Professional Life’ and Swami Satyaroopananda from Ramakrishna Mission aims at developing ethical leading. The programme concludes with a cultural programme performed by the PGP 13-15 batch students.
