IIM-T initial response to newbie IIM-Trichy is quite impressive. IIM-T set a target to list among the top 10 B-Schools of India in next five years.
IIM-Trichy director Prafulla Agnihotri quoted in media that IIM-Trichy has planned to introduce short-term courses addressing the needs of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tier 2 towns and tailor made courses for any industry evincing interest in sending their executives to IIM-Trichy.
IIM -T’s vision is to “Prepare young minds to contribute to the betterment of the global society”. Thus institute aims at preparing students for global leadership roles emerging from India in the decades to come. IIM-T also believes that students should act as change agents with socially responsive behavior. For these reasons, institute has outlined special weightages for parameters like communication ability and personality, managerial and leadership attributes, and social awareness and disposition, in its selection process. It places a special emphasis on “social competence” of the student in its selection.
IIM-T aims at “creating an environment that encourages students having diverse backgrounds to achieve excellence in the field of their choice, thru holistic, functional and relevant education.
IIM- Trichy has adopted a philosophy of “experiential learning” where students will be encouraged to learn through field work, projects and live assignments in the industry along with case-based methodology.
IIM- T making an effort to partner with industry for providing support by training and consulting activities and soon institute will start Guest lectures and seminar where industry’s key executives and top management will interact to the students to share their practical experiences.
IIM-Trichy is among those institutes who have replaced GD with WAT (written analysis test) in their selection process. Rest admission process is same as adopted by other IIMs.
“Integrity” and “ethical behavior” are the foundations of IIM-T. An attempt has been made to assess these qualities in candidates during the Written Analysis Test (WAT) and Personal Interviews (PI).
On the basis of the philosophy of IIM- Tiruchirappalli, students’ selection criteria would be Personal Interview & Written Analysis Test.
Tiruchirappalli is a great, historical city known for its rich heritage and has a legacy of providing quality education. IIM- Trichy plans to undertake and make available facilities for research in all branches of knowledge and management education. IIM-T has inculcated a practice of “data based decision making” and a “spirit of collaboration” among students that make them enable to work jointly and lead a global team of managers.
