What you should not do at a PI?
Personal Interview is the last leg of hurdle; you need to clear before you are likely to be admitted in B school.

PI is the most crucial stage and it demands highly focused mental agility as either this can be converted to an opportunity or will turn out to be a fiasco.

With the aim to provide you best of content on Personal Interview ,  MBA Rendezvous has initiated articles.

Hopefully following topic on What you should not do at a PI?  Will boost your confidence to clear PI successfully:

Congratulations on getting selected for a Personal Interview! Although you may be heaving a sigh of relief after working hard to secure an interview, it is not time to relax yet.

A Personal Interview is not something to be taken lightly. There are a number of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ that you need to focus on. In this article, we will focus on what you should not do at a Personal Interview.

First and foremost, you should never be late for a Personal Interview. Make it a point to be present at the venue of your interview well ahead of time because punctuality speaks volumes about a person. When one is late, it shows that he does not value the time of others. This is a major deal breaker for many business schools. So, plan your travel in advance to avoid getting late.

The next big mistake that many potential MBA students make is the lack of eye contact with the interviewer(s). Sometimes, there may be more than one interviewer at the Personal Interview. So, instead of just focusing on one interviewer, shift your gaze and make eye contact with all the interviewers.

It is difficult to make eye contact with a number of people during an interview but interviewers judge the personality of an individual based on his non-verbal communication skills too. When you don’t make eye contact, it shows that you are not confident and no business school is keen on admitting a student who is shy and withdrawn.

Last but not least, you should not pretend to be someone you are not. Although interviewers are not psychologists, they are given training on human behaviour. Hence, they are able to detect lies easily. So, never lie about your achievements or brag about something you have not done because these behaviours will automatically put you on the ‘rejected’ list.

A Personal Interview is not to be taken lightly for sure. Go through a comprehensive list of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ before an interview and you will be one step closer to getting an admission in the business school of your choice.
