The summer placement process for the batch of 2012-2014 witnessed a grand array of our reputed recruiting partners who vied to select the best from the batch. The summer placement has been splendid and has reaffirmed the position of Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur among the premier B-Schools in the country. Several new recruiters along with our regular partners also participated in the selection process this year.
A total of 55 companies participated in the recruitment process for the batch of 2014. The students have been offered challenging management roles across sectors like FMCG, Consulting, BFSI, Manufacturing, Analytics and E-Commerce
Consulting & Analytics
In the consulting sector, regular recruiters such as Price Waterhouse Coopers, i-Maritime Consulting, Wealth Tree Consulting and Nodwin Consultants recruited the majority of the batch. A vast variety of profiles, spanning across business consulting, process consulting and strategy consulting were offered to our students. Aditya Birla Group offered roles in strategy consulting and business analytics while HP Analytics, a regular recruiter at VGSoM also offered profiles in analytics.
FMCG, Consumer Durables and Logistics
VGSoM maintained its reputation of being the college of choice amongst the FMCG and logistics companies which is evident from the number of recruiters in this sector that participated in the summer placement process. Our regular recruiters Reckitt Benckiser, Titan Industries, Heinz India Pvt. Ltd., United Spirits Limited etc continued to show faith in the talent we provide. Industry major Marico offered us projects at international locations. World’s largest shipping corporation, Maersk Line extended internships to our students for the first time. The profiles offered to the students include highly desired roles like sales and marketing, supply chain management and logistics planning to name a few.
Banking and Financial Services
Recruitment by banking and financial institutions from VGSoM has steadily increased over the years and this year has seen the sector contribute the most to our summer placements. BFSI giants such as Citibank, ING Vysya, Reserve Bank of India, Punjab National Bank & Bank of Baroda have offered niche profiles like credit finance, treasury management, wholesale banking, corporate finance, retail banking, credit risk analysis and banking operations to our students. NCDEX, the leading commodity exchange in India also offered internship to our students in their marketing division. Springforth Capital Advisors offered coveted profiles in investment banking to our students.
IT/ ITES
With most of our students having prior experience in IT/ITES sector, this sector has historically been one of our strengths. The scenario has further improved, as this year signaled the start of our relationship with industry stalwart Google India which offered our students the business process improvement profile. Other industry majors like Wipro, Siemens Corporate Technology & Hewlett-Packard continued to offer internships in the areas of business consulting, IT consulting, CRM and analytics to our students. Multinational media & information firm Thomson Reuters was also an esteemed addition to our list of recruiters this year.
Manufacturing and Automobile
Manufacturing sector has traditionally been the forte of VGSoM and this year was no different. Our trusted partners in this sector have consistently shown faith in us and a healthy 24% of the batch received offers from the manufacturing sector companies this year. Industry leaders like Tata Motors, Daimler India (Bharat Benz), Voltas Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited & National Thermal Power Corporation offered profiles in operations, marketing, and supply chain management.
E-Commerce
E-commerce sector has seen the maximum growth in terms of the number of offers extended to our students compared to last year. A number of exciting startups like Valyoo Technologies, MyDeals24x7 and TaxiForSure offered roles in operations and brand management to our students.

Despite the economic slowdown affecting placements at business schools across the country this year, VGSoM has recorded an increment of 20% in the average stipend this placement season. Apart from our coveted regulars many reputed first-time recruiters also participated in the process & offered diverse profiles ensuring that our students get an internship of their choice.
