Commenting on the latest in the series of awards, Dr Uday Salunkhe said “Such awards definitely bring along beautiful moments and confirm our faith in the approach we have towards structuring of our distance learning programs; but at the same time these underline the responsibility of maintaining the standards set over a period of years with lot of efforts, hard work and incisive analysis of the industry in the relevant sectors. But then one has to be a stickler for quality, particularly when it comes to education as so many people have their hopes pinned on it.”
Welingkar distance education has carved out a niche for itself with some of its very unique features which form its quintessential part. The course content here is quite differently structured. There is no concept of ‘core’ and 'electives' in the second year; all the subjects are specialization-specific. The institute offers specialization in Marketing, HR, Supply Chain Management, E- business, Retail Management, Finance, Operations, General Management, International Business, Banking, Investment and Insurance.
Students also have access to online video library called, "WE TUBE", whereby students can access video lectures on relevant topics by experts. Industry visits and business simulation games also play a significant role in grooming the students suitably for the industry.
Another much valued feature is the concept of virtual classroom; the faculty reaches directly to its students at their home through internet based two- way audio-video lectures. This has been and proved quite pragmatic and very helpful to the students.
Also worth mentioning are the tracking modules under outbound experiential learning methodology to Sahayadri/ the Himalayas which test and train the students on perseverance, decision-making, problem solving and thinking on their feet. The activities are designed to guide them through the area of weakness and applying solutions to significantly and positively to enhance their performance. Team work, problem solving, communication, presentation skills, decision making, knowing more about oneself, leadership and many more traits are consistently worked upon.
The rapid response system wherein students’ queries are solved instantly in minimum possible time via smses or emails depending on the nature of the questions is also a widely appreciated.
As of the placement support system, regular and relevant updates are reached to the students, sharing with them job opportunities as per their verticals, right from the day of their enrollment. To keep its students industry ready up to the minute it has its newswire services that update them on the latest developments in their chosen specialization.
