CMAT 2021 Exam Analysis

CMAT 2021 successfully held today, March 31, 2021, in two shifts. Compared to last year, the overall difficulty level has slightly increased this year. The CMAT Exam was held in two shifts. The morning shift was from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The afternoon shift is from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Thousands of students took the CMAT Exam 2021 from across the country.

As per the CMAT exam analysis 2021 by the students of shift II, the overall difficulty level was easy to moderate just like shift 1. The quant and general knowledge sections were the toughest in shift 2 also. So far, NTA has not yet announced any CMAT result 2021 date.

CMAT 2021 Exam Analysis: Section Wise for Both Shifts

The overall difficulty level of CMAT exam 2021 was moderate like every year and about 80-85 questions with 90 per cent accuracy can fetch a good score.

CMAT 2021- Section Wise Analysis

Quantitative Technique and Data Interpretation

As compared to the paper pattern two years back, there were fewer calculation-intensive questions. The questions were spread across a wide range of topics viz., Numbers, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Geometry, Mensuration, P&C, Probability, Sets & Venn Diagrams, etc.

There were four questions based on Data Interpretation (Table), which were pretty straightforward to solve. A well-prepared student could have attempted 18-20 questions in the section.

Logical Reasoning

There was one set (blood relationship) comprising four questions. Similar to last year, most questions in this section were on the easy to moderate side. Questions included coding-decoding, direction sense, Venn diagrams, visual diagrams, comparisons, series based, analogies, odd man out, etc. There were four questions on Verbal Reasoning (Analogy, Strong-Weak Arguments, etc.).

A good student could have answered 19-21 questions.

Language Comprehension

There were four Reading Comprehension passages in the third section with a total of 14 questions. A good student could have attempted 11-12 questions easily.

The Verbal Ability segment had 11 questions. These included questions on Synonyms/Antonyms, Error spotting, fill in the Blanks, Meanings of words and their usage in sentences, Grammatically correct sentences etc.

The section was easy to moderate, and a serious test taker should have been able to answer 18-20 questions.

General Awareness

This section was tougher as compared to last year's in terms of difficulty level. Most of the questions were based on Static GK about 17 in number. The section had questions on:

  • Geography,
  • Literature,
  • Religion,
  • Government Ministries,
  • Booker prize, Awards, and Honours,
  • General Science,
  • Politics,
  • Banking,
  • International organizations,
  • Sports and Games,
  • Current Affairs & General Knowledge.

A good student would be able to answer around 14 questions in this section.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The Innovation & Entrepreneurship section was introduced this year for the first time in CMAT. This section was the optional section of CMAT 2021 question paper and 30 minutes extra was given to candidates who opted for this section. The difficulty level of this section can be considered easy to moderate.

CMAT 2021 Exam Analysis: Overall Highlights

  • The CMAT 2021 question paper had five sections carrying 25 questions each
  • In CMAT 2021, the main four sections were - Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning¸ Language Comprehension and General Awareness 
  • The Innovation & Entrepreneurship section was an optional section. Those who have opted for this section were given 30 minute extra to complete the paper.
  • There was no other change in the CMAT exam pattern
  • The difficulty level of CMAT 2021 question paper of both Shift 1 and 2 were same and so was the topic-wise composition
  • Logical Reasoning was easier but had very close answer options
  • General Awareness (GK) section was found tough with more questions on Static GK
  • Data Interpretation (DI) part in Quant section had PI chart and Table based questions of moderate difficulty level
  • Quant section was moderate and had more questions on Arithmetic. Few questions were also found on Algebra, P&C, Probability, Geometry and Mensuration.
  • There was no sectional time limit and candidates could attempt any question in any section within time limit of 3½ hours

CMAT 2021: Result
