IBSAT vs CAT & XAT | Why Aspirants Choose IBSAT

If you are planning to attempt CAT and XAT already, why opt for another admission test like IBSAT? IBSAT gives you a third avenue to MBA entrance besides CAT and XAT. This admission test is conducted by ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education. The IBSAT exam is planned to be conducted in December for the academic year 2027-29. Appearing for IBSAT does not imply you necessarily abandon CAT or XAT and take IBSAT as a substitute. IBS is also flexible on acceptance of scores of the candidates, as they not only take IBSAT scores, but also scores of other popular tests like CAT and XAT and even of the NMAT by GMAC and also the GMAT. That gives the candidates the luxury of taking IBSAT as an additional option. Besides, for those whose idea of the whole admission process is pretty much broader, taking a shot at the IBSAT will surely enable a candidate to add this particular university's MBA program to the list of available options.

IBS will give out 500 scholarships of ₹2 lakh each to meritorious students joining the MBA programme through the 2027-29 academic session.

MBA entrance exams vary greatly with format and difficulty. The exam which is best suited to you will depend on the level and style of your preparations and your main purpose in applying for MBA programmes. Although IBSAT is structured in a student-friendly way, it should not be a substitute for genuine preparation. The total of 140 questions demands a good handle on both speed and accuracy by candidates.

1. Learn the structure of the IBSAT: Get hold of the content of the four modules and the type of questions they include. 

2. Practice questions with time limits: Training yourself to solve problems quickly is essential without going overboard on one problem.

3. Go through mock papers: Using mocks not only will expose you to different content but also help you figure out how fast you are, how precise you are, and how good you are at a particular section.

4. Do revision often: Keep notes briefly for formulas, concepts vocabulary, and types of questions that come up a lot.

5. Review and learn from errors: It is not just the number that matters. One has to find out the reason why the question was missed in the first place.

6. Develop a flexible plan for the paper: There will be no time limit for the different sections. So prepare and work out the right way of moving around between the different sections on the paper.
 

IBSAT is an exam that is quite different from others because it has no negative marking and no time limit per section. It is even possible that if you are already studying for CAT or XAT, taking the IBSAT as well could serve you as a parallel pathway to reach your goal rather than forcing yourself to choose one out of two. Though, the main thing is to be clear about what kind of exams your target colleges are looking for as they often have specific requirements, so the exam pattern, admissions requirements and your target colleges , these are the factors that will decide where you direct your energy in your studies.
