IIM Rohtak organized a case method workshop on 2nd and 3rdDecember in Gurgaon, Haryana. The workshop emphasized the value of the case method in the learning process. The case method workshop garnered international participation from countries like Portugal, Nepal among others. More than 50 professors and researchers from IIMs and 25 other business schools participated in this workshop.
The facilitators of the workshop were Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director IIM Rohtak, Prof. I. M. Pandey, ex-Director-in-charge of IIM Ahmedabad and Director General of Delhi School of Business and Prof. V. Venkata Rao, Former Professor, IIM Ahmedabad. Stressing the importance of deep rooted case method pedagogy of teaching followed in IIMs, Professor Sharma said, “IIMs excel as great institutions because of case pedagogy which sharpens decision-making of its students.” “A typical IIM Rohtak student is exposed to nearly 600 cases in its two year program” said Prof Sharma. Prof. IM Pandey and Prof. VV Rao asserted on the importance of class participation and the significance of facilitating the learning through cases.
The main objective of the workshop was to convey the participants the effective way to teach and write theoretically grounded real business cases.The workshop helped the participants learn how to use case studies to analyse and develop solutions to complex business problems as managers do every day.
IIM Rohtak aspires to impart knowledge of business disciplines with a unique cross-functional perspective to prepare ethical and innovative leaders for the good of not just the nation, but the world.IIM Rohtak has recently started a case center and a case research journal to further strengthen case based pedagogy.
