Gramodaya, 2017, a new initiative of Xavier School of Rural Management, Xavier University Bhubaneswar, was held at Sakhigopal, in the district of Puri on 22nd October 2017 by RMAX, Rural Manager’s Association of Xavier School of Rural Management. Its main objective is the promotion of products & services in rural areas, studying consumer perception, price preference in the rural area. The organizations which actively participated in this event were NALCO, Union Bank, Eicher Tractors and Mahila Udyog, a Self Help Group.
The event officially commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Miss Sasmita Pradhan, Chairman of Satyabadi Block in Sakhigopal. She emphasized upon the fact that such events are a great learning opportunity for the budding rural managers. “Gramodaya will be very much helpful to rural people as it will allow them to know about products and get trained”. She added.
The organization taking part in this event gave the students an opportunity to be part of a series of live project. Mahila Udyog exhibited their wide range of products like handmade jackets, anklets, bracelets, necklace, earrings etc. Eicher tractors showcased two of its tractor models Eicher-548 and Eicher 485, wherein the customer preferences and requirements were gathered. Union Bank aimed to create awareness about different types of schemes and services provided by Union Bank like Flexi Deposit, multi-city cheque., SMS/Mobile Banking etc, whereas NALCO conducted surveys for the existing SHGs.
Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) was established in accordance with the Xavier University Act 2013 was established on 7th of July 2014. The university is India’s first digital university and an institution of higher learning for imparting professional and technical education. It is a self-financing institution of learning for imparting professional and technical education. XUB offers its Masters in Business Management through Xavier School of Human Resource Management through Xavier School of Sustainability and graduates programme in commerce through Xavier School of Commerce. Apart from these, it has proposed to set up other schools of higher learning in various areas like Public Policy, Sustainability, Media & Communications, Finance, education and Centers of Research in Public Policy & others.
Xavier School of Rural Management, erstwhile known as Rural Management- PGDM in Rural Management at XIMB was housed as an independent school – XSRM in 2013.
