Vivaan 4.0 – the flagship International Business Summit of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata, concluded on 19th August, 2018 with a huge aplomb. The three-day summit, which started on 17th August, 2018, played host to distinguished personalities in the domains of finance, marketing, trade, strategy & analytics, and entrepreneurship. It started on a high note with Mr. Kaushik Saha, CTO of Samsung R&D, who shared his valuable insights on IIoT and Swarm Intelligence architecture, and who also talked about increasing cases of cyber-attacks and possible measures to tackle them. The summit moved ahead with Finance session where the eminent panel which boasted of names like Mr. Vivek Saraf, Director, East India, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Sumeru Shah and Mr. Nirvikar Jain, discussed key developments in the Fintech sector and its future growth landscape.
This was followed by Trade & Ops Session where Industry experts like Arnab Bandhopadhyay – Lead Transport Specialist, World Bank, India, and other panellists, discussed issues such as Shift in International Trade and Logistics due to Regulations and Foreign Policies; India Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics and Transport Policy; Digitization; Supply Chain Social Responsibility. For the evening talk, IIFT was honoured to have Mr. Khalid Raza, Director of Talent Acquisition and Leadership Management at Altisource Solutions. He talked extensively about the role of Technology in HR and Management and also challenged the negative perceptions about Automation and its effect on jobs.
The day 2 of Vivaan 4.0 saw an electrifying marketing summit. IIFT was lucky to have Mr. Sanjay Chowdhury, Business Head, Protection, Berger Paints, and other Industry leaders from companies like ITC, Lenovo and Benefit Cosmetics. The speakers being stalwarts from varied industries, talked about the distinct challenges and opportunities in their respective field of expertise. The summit also discussed about Rural market as the new area of interest for companies and how they are tapping into it. In the Strategy, IT, and Analytics summit, the theme was “Reimagining the future of business with new age enabling technologies”.
The event focused on the evolution of technologies like Blockchain, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, the future of these technologies and their significance in the business world. The event was graced by Mr. Asish Mohapatra, CEO, Ofbusiness; Dr. Avik Sarkar, Head, Data Analytics Cell, NITI Aayog and many other such renowned Industry stalwarts. The evening talk by Mr. Avez Saeed, Chief Risk Officer at SBI General Insurance, touched upon the various kind of risks that companies face in today’s world and the importance of risk mitigation. He also deliberated upon A,B,C,Ds of technology and discussed Cloud computing and Data analytics.
The last day of Vivaan introduced Swimming with the Sharks, organized for the first time in IIFT. It provided a concrete platform for budding entrepreneurs to present their ideas in front of seasoned Angel Investors like Mohit Gulati, Avelo Roy, Nidhi Saraf and Arjit Bhattacharya. Mr. Hetal Sonpal, the keynote speaker along with these esteemed panellists emphasized on how important it is to differentiate oneself in this highly competitive world. The event, as promised was packed with energy, enthusiasm and entertainment. The panel provided feedback and valuable suggestions to each team, which made for an enriching experience. The business summit, Vivaan 4.0 couldn't have asked for a better ending.
