IIM Kashipur inaugurated the Design Innovation Centre (नवाशय) on Tuesday. Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Director, IIM Kashipur unveiled the DIC brochure.
Under the National Initiative for Design Innovation, led by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, DICs are established to create an ecosystem that connects and facilitates various stakeholders engaged in Design Innovation aspect of Agriculture, Healthcare, Tourism, Community and Ecological, etc.
Design Innovation Centre (DIC) (नवाशय), one of the spokes of twenty DICs being set up in the country by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India aims to develop design and innovation culture in the Institute by primarily addressing the problems of the North-West Himalayan region and other national priority areas. There are three partner institutes (hub) - Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), (Spokes) - National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand (NITUK) and G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUA&T).
DIC, IIM Kashipur has launched three programmes to facilitate design thinking culture: HELP (Himalayan Education Learning Program), HUM (Himalayan Upliftment Movement), HILL (Himalayan Innovation of Land to Laboratory).
Dr. Kumkum Bharti, Chairperson, DIC, speaking to reporters, said that DIC (नवाशय) is committed to foster design thinking culture among academia, NGOs and other stakeholders. DIC at IIM Kashipur has successfully completed two design thinking workshops with ITI Kashipur and Kendriya Vidyalaya Kashipur.
