In pursuit to achieve academic excellence and develop the society through industry-academia and civil society dialogue, Indian Institute of Management Raipur, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi and National Law School of India University, Bangalore are jointly organizing a Global Summit on Corporate Social Responsibility on 15-16th May, 2015 at Indian International Centre, New Delhi.

CSR today is no longer a peripheral activity andhas been included into mainstream operation as an integral part of the paradigm of corporate management. In fact it has shifted its focus from back room to boardroom.  It is also about refurbishing existing practices, maximizing impact, and creating a link between social responsibilities and best business practices. It involves the conscious inclusion of public or community interest into corporate decision-making, and adherence to the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit.

The importance of a strengthened platform for CSR which responds coherently and effectively to current and future challenges and efficiently bridges gaps in the implementation of the CSR agenda cannot be ruled out. Therefore the institutional framework for CSR should integrate the three dimensions of CSR in a balanced manner and enhance implementation by, inter-alia, strengthening coherence, coordination, avoiding duplication of efforts and reviewing progress in implementing CSR.

The framework should be inclusive, transparent and effective and that it should find common solutions related to global challenges to CSR. Effective governance at the local, subnational, national, regional and global levels representing the voices and interests of all is critical for advancing CSR. This Global Summit on CSR is intended to promote the balanced integration of the three dimensions (people, planet and profit) of CSR; deliberate on an action- and result-oriented approach considering all relevant cross-cutting issues with the aim of contributing to the implementation of CSR.

Prof B.S Sahay, Director of IIM Raipur expressed his opinion and stressed on the importance of inter linkages among key issues and challenges and the need for a systematic approach to tackle them at all relevant levels; enhance coherence in approach, reduce fragmentation and overlap and increase effectiveness, efficiency and transparency in the system while reinforcing coordination and cooperation.
