IIM Rohtak gets new Director
Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister of India approved the appointment of Dr Dheeraj Sharma as the Director of IIM-Rohtak on Feb 10, 2017. Dr Dheeraj Sharma has formally assumed the charge of Director, IIM Rohtak on March 1, 2017, taking over from Acting Director Prof. Atanu Rakshit.
Dr Dheeraj Sharma is Professor in Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. Dr Sharma earned his doctoral degree with a major in marketing and a double minor in psychology and quantitative analysis from Louisiana Tech University, USA. He has taught and presented research at numerous education institutions in North America, Europe and Asia.
Dr Sharma has been the recipient of many academic and professional awards. He is an active member of Academy of Marketing Science, Society of Marketing Advances, American marketing Association, and World Marketing Congress. As a member of the aforementioned associations, Dr Sharma has served as a session chair, discussant, track chair, and executive member of organisation committee. Dr Sharma is also past Associate Editor of Journal of Marketing Channels. He is also past Editor of the Academy of Marketing Science proceedings.
Dr Sharma’s has over a hundred publications in leading international journals, encyclopaedias, books, and conference proceedings. Dr. Sharma’s publications have appeared and/or are accepted for publication in Advances in Marketing, Developments in Marketing, Business and Society Review, Encyclopaedia of Sports Management and Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Emerging Markets, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Marketing Channels, Journal of Marketing Education, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Marketing Management Journal, New Technology Work and Employment, among other prominent publications. Dr Sharma has edited/authored eight books on principles of marketing, consumer behaviour, B2B marketing management, cross-cultural research, military leadership, campaign management, and international business.
Dr. Sharma has been involved in consulting projects or/and executive training with several multinational corporations such as, ICI Paints, Duncan Holdings LLC, Globe Rangers LLC, Hero Cycles Ltd, First Merchants Bank of America, Ambuja Cements, Tata Housing, Exide batteries, Central Warehousing Corporation, Life Insurance Company, Army Training Command, Delhi Government, Gujarat Government, and Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, among others. Dr Sharma continues to serve on boards and advisory boards of many organisations including Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (MILKFED), IRCTC (Indian Railways), among others. His expert views have been cited in many major internationals newspapers including Business Standard, Economic Times, Times of India, DNA, The Tribune, The Hindu, Asian Age, Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Montreal Gazette, National Post, CTV National News, among others.
