IMT Ghaziabad Commences 37th Batch of PGDM and 7th Batch of PGDM–DCP
India’s premiermanagement schoolIMT Ghaziabad today announced the commencement of the 2016–18 batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Dual Country Programme (PGDM–DCP). This is 37th batch of PGDM and 7th batch of PGDM–DCP. Following the registration process, the students are currently undergoing a weeklong orientation programme. The Orientation Programme aims at sensitising the new batch of students towards institute’s philosophy, curriculum, pedagogy and developing their knowledge base before regular classes commence.
The PGDM 2016–18 batch comprises 19 percent female and 81 percent male students. They come from 24 Indian states. 79 percent of the batch pursued Engineering degrees at the undergraduate level while 21 percent students are from diverse disciplines such as Science, Commerce and Arts. 65 percent of the batch have prior work experience while 35 percent are freshers. The average work experience of the batch is 14 months.
The PGDM–DCP 2016–18 batch comprises 15 percent female and 85 percent male students. They represent 21 Indian states. 67 percent of the batch pursued Engineering degrees at the undergraduate level while 33 percent students come from diverse disciplines. 45 percent of the batch have prior work experience while 55 percent are freshers. The average work experience of the batch is 8 months.
All the students across both the above programmes are aged between 21 and 28 years.
The weeklong orientation programme kicked off on Monday, June 20 with the ceremonial lamp lighting and prayers. Dr. S. K. Batra, Dean Academics provided an introduction to IMT Ghaziabad and Dr. Reema Khurana, Programme Head, PGDM introduced the programme to the new batchof students. Keeping with the IMT tradition, the inaugural ceremony also witnessed an immensely inspiring keynote by Ms. Jaba Sen Menon, Head, Communications & Brand, Centum Learning Limited and anIMT alumna of 1988 batch. While reminiscing her two years at IMT 30 years back, Ms. Menon emphasised on the need for the young mindsto practice three Ds, viz Discipline, Determination, and Dedication in order to become exemplary leaders and better global citizens.
This was followed by an open question and answer session for students with the Director, the Dean and the Programme Head. The new students also engaged with Student Affairs and Welfare Committee (SAWC) and Vishal Goyal, Corporate Relations Head, IMT Ghaziabad.
Introducing the students with the Programme Dr. Reema Khuranasaid, “The philosophy of the IMT’s PGDM is four-fold – Balancing long and short term objectives, Grooming leadership, Leadership starting with self, and Knowing doing and being.And the programme architecture is designed to appropriately shape an individual who is not only a successful professional but is also capable of self-assessment, balancing and improvement through continuous learning.”
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director IMT Ghaziabad said, “The focus of IMT’s philosophy of grooming leadership is on Innovation, Execution and Social Responsibility. We have introduces multiple courses and modules in order to realise the same. For instance, a Personal Growth Lab and Assessment Centre, a module for Organisations Based Projects and a course encompassing Business, Government, Society and Industry (BGSI). We are realigning our programme so as to accommodate these need-of-the-future initiatives. Soon we will also have a full-fledged Design Lab on the campus. I am sure this will provide an edge to the IMT graduates.”
