The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a premier institution under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, celebrated its Foundation Day on 2nd May 2025 at its New Delhi campus, marking a legacy of academic excellence, policy research, and contributions to India's international trade.
Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, extended his greetings through a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Warm greetings to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on its 62nd Foundation Day. IIFT is playing a pivotal role in equipping young minds with the relevant skills in international business and trade, preparing them to lead in the future.”
The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, IIFT, who reflected on the institute’s journey, achievements, and commitment to shaping global trade professionals and thought leaders.
The Foundation Day was graced by distinguished dignitaries:
- Padma Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry, Chairman, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, Ministry of Education, Government of India
- Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, a renowned Indian poet, satirist, and humorist
- Prof. B. Bhattacharyya, Former Director, IIFT
- Prof. A.K. Sengupta, Former Director, IIFT
A key highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of the Hindi edition of IIFT’s official magazine, Yagya Patrika, a vibrant publication celebrating the institute’s academic milestones, creative expressions, and forward-looking vision.
The celebration also included the launch of a commemorative film on IIFT’s legacy, along with student performances and engaging reflections. The event was attended by retired faculty and staff members, prominent alumni, faculty members, and staff and students, making it a memorable and inspiring occasion.
