MICA, Ahmedabad, gears up to host its 10th International Communication Management Conference (ICMC), commencing January 18, 2024. Spanning over three days, the conference, based on the theme ‘Immersive Technology and Experiences’ will bring research scholars and industry experts to discuss, delve and dissect knowledge on how virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence are used across the spectrums of human activity.
This year, ICMC will have three global institutes partnering with MICA - Integrated Marketing Communications, Medill School for Journalism, Northwestern University, USA, Queen's Business School, Queen's University, Belfast, UK and UCSI University, Malaysia.
Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta, President & Director, MICA, said, “ICMC 2024 will offer a platform to expert practitioners, academicians, policymakers, and researchers to engage in
conversations, co-learn, and co-create a healthy eco-system for better application of the technology, critical understanding of its implications, and sharpening it for the future.”
The conference will have paper presentations on themes like ethical and policy consideration of tomorrows technology, challenges in regulating technology, hegemonization of data, immersive technology for environmental and social development, classrooms of the future, engaging Gen Z through immersive technologies, and many more. During the conference, experience zones will be set up for participants to try out Oculus (AR/VR) devices and get a feel of the metaverse and virtual reality.
CAREER FAIR FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS:
For the first time, ICMC 2024 will host a career fair for doctoral scholars and young academicians. Institutes like SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Goa Institute of Management, IMT Ghaziabad, Flame University, Nirma University, IRMA, KIIT University, BML Munjal University, and others will participate in the career fair and will interact with the scholars.

BOOK LAUNCHES:
Three significant books will be launched during the 3-day event, covering immersive technology, Gen Z's digital experiences, and essential skills for success in the evolving professional landscape. Authored and edited by experts, these publications promise valuable insights into themes like immersive technology, digital media, and career development.
The first book titled ‘Immersive Technology and Experiences: Implications for Business and Society’ and edited by Dr. Githa Heggde, Dr. Santosh Kumar Patra, and Dr. Rasananda Panda will be launched. The book offers a detailed analysis of the latest trends and developments in the fields. The second book titled ‘Gen Z, Digital Media, and Transcultural Lives: At Home in the World’, authored by Kiran Vinod Bhatia and Manisha Pathak-Shelat, explores how Generation Z utilizes digital media and technologies in the global South. The third book titled, ‘Six Skills You Must Have to Succeed’, authored by Abhijit Bhaduri, guides readers on developing six critical skills essential for success in the evolving professional landscape.
The valedictory address will be delivered by Mr. K Rajaraman, Chairman, International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), Prof. Rajendra Srivastava, Executive Director, ISB Centre for Business Innovation, ISB Hyderabad and Mr. Bharat Khatri, Chief Digital Officer, APAC, Omnicom Media Group.
