“Kshitij 2016” National Level HR Summit organized at XIMB
“Innovative Practices in HR- Challenging the Status Quo” at “Kshitij 2016”
"Kshitij 2016", the National Level HR Summit organized by XIMAHR, the HR Association of XIMB-XUB, took place at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The event aimed at addressing the innovative practices in the field of human resource management and highlighting its significance to the sustainability of the firm’s growth and competitiveness. The speakers for the event were Mr. Satyadeep Mishra, Head of HR-Digital Services, Reliance Jio, Mr. Suresh Pugalenthi, Head-Organisation Development, HPCL, Mr, Prasad Balkundi, Associate Professor, University at Buffalo. The moderator of the event was Prof. Dr. Sasmit Patra, Associate Professor, XIMB-XUB.

The event kick started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Snigdha Pattnaik, Dean, Xavier School of Human Resource, XIMB-XUB.
The first speaker of the morning was Mr. Satyadeep Mishra who spoke extensively about the importance of connections between individuals beyond the realm of hierarchy. He said “It’s all about the power of connections”. He also decoded the golden mantra of being an HR, which is to stop being an HR. He stressed that learning is a continuous process and it’s all about creating the right employee experience. According to him the call for today’s HR professionals is the ability to choose their attitude.
The second speaker of the day was Mr. Suresh Pugalenthi. He highlighted the true meaning of Organisation Development. “Organisation Development is to understand what customers want and what customers need”, he said. He emphasized on the inevitable role of innovation in today’s HR practices. Sighting certain examples like digitalization of processes through introduction of mobile apps, internal communication through HP Radio, power of positive energy and the concept of listening organization, from HPCL, he concluded, “HR needs to create value for the organization.”
The final speaker of the day was Mr. Prasad Balkundi. He spoke about the changing trends in HR. He highlighted some of the well-known personality and training models and stressed on the Homophily aspect of human nature. He pointed out, “Training key individuals will cascade down the entire system.” He spoke about the cluster concept of informal networks and how it can be linked to the formal hierarchy.
The speeches were followed by an interactive question and answer session with the audience. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Mousumi Padhi of XIMB-XUB.
The second leg of the event was the final round of the Pan-India Best Summer Internship Competition of students of Tier-I and Tier-II B-schools organized by XIMAHR in association with NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter. 12 teams belonging to XLRI, Jamshedpur, XIM, Bhubaneswar, IMI, New Delhi, KJ SIMSR, Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur were among the shortlisted teams for the finals. The judges were Mr. Satyadeep Mishra, Head of HR, Digital Services, Reliance Jio, Mr. Suresh Pugalenthi, Head, Organisation Development, HPCL, Mr. Arun Bhatt, Head Corporate Communications, Vedanta Aluminium Limited, Prof. Tania Saritova Rath, Associate Professor and Area Coordinator, Human Resource Management and Bobby Pattnaik, NHRDN Bhubaneswar Chapter. Shikhar Dubey from KJ SIMSR, Mumbai emerged as the winner followed by Meenakshi Tiwari from XIMB and Anchita Srivastava from IMI Delhi as the 1st and 2nd runners up.
