The Silver Jubilee Year of Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi witnessed a virtual induction programme for the very first time in its history as it warmly welcomed the batch of 2020-22.
The event began on a bright note with a floral tribute to Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji and lighting of the lamp. Next, a short film on the life of Shastri Ji, Man of the Masses, was displayed as a small effort to remember his great principles and values. The virtual gathering was then addressed by Dr D. K. Srivastava, Director, LBSIM who welcomed the “Silver Jubilee Batch” and congratulated them for the achievement. After motivating the students to have faith and confidence in themselves to succeed even in these unprecedented times, he urged the new batch to be a part of the solution and keep looking for opportunities to unleash their potential. Stressing on skills like business continuity management and innovation, he concluded by wishing luck to the upcoming batch.
Mr Rajeev Dubey, Principal Advisor-Mahindra &Mahindra Ltd, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the Induction Programme. Mr Rajeev Dubey has served as the Group President (HR & Corporate Services) & CEO (After-Market Sector), Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and is presently Chairman of Mahindra Insurance Brokers, Mahindra Steel Service Centres, Mahindra First Choice Wheels, Mahindra First Choice Services and Fifth Gear Ventures, and serves on the Board of Mahindra Intertrade. With a distinguished academic background, he pursued an MBA from the Yale School of Management, USA as a J N Tata scholar, and was selected as a Distinguished Alumnus of the School and is a certified coach of the International Coaching Federation (ICF)
He joined Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 2004 as an Executive Vice President and Member of the Group Management Board, after a career spanning 29 years in the Tata Group. In the past 16 years that he has been associated with the Mahindra Group, his key focus areas were Human Capital initiatives of the Group, the After-Market businesses whose CEO’s reported to him, Group Communications, Government Relations, CSR and Infrastructure. A member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Geneva and serving on the Board of the International Organization of Employers (IOE), Geneva, he is also a Member of the National Executive Council of FICCI, member of the Steering Committee and Chairman of its HR Committee.
Mr. Rajeev Dubey delivered an insightful lecture for the students on 'Creating Tomorrow's Leaders: 3+5'. Starting his addressal with the ways for a business to outperform, he emphasised on the importance of a leader to have clarity on the purpose and the dream of the organisation. He talked about how every employee’s purpose should align with the organizational purpose and why finding an opportunity out of every situation, even in these tough conditions, is the only way of growth in future.
He quoted the theory of “3+5” i.e., the three rise pillars of accepting no limits, alternative thinking, and driving a positive change, and their alignment with the five aspects of leadership behaviour, a whole new mind, multiplier, managing fear and leveraging failure, mindfulness and trust, and added amusing examples to elaborate them further. Touching upon topics like Corporate Social Responsibility and the ethics of “Satya, Prem, Seva (Truth, Compassion, Service), he ended his speech by quoting the “Rise Manifesto”, something that Mahindra & Mahindra draws inspiration from.
The vote of thanks was then delivered by Dr G L Sharma, Advisor - Corporate Interface who congratulated the students while highlighting the values of our Second Prime Minister. He talked about the values and ethics which are inculcated by Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management in its students to turn them into socially sensitive business leaders.
To facilitate the upcoming 25th batch with the campus experience With Covid-19 hampering the normal ways of conducting induction, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organised a virtual tour for its students to facilitate the campus experience to the upcoming 25th batch. The video created in collaboration with the Media & Communication Cell and the cultural club, LBSIM was aimed at familiarising the students with the various facilities provided by the Institute.
The occasion was further graced by a brief introduction of Course and Area Conveners of the various courses provided by the Institute. The session concluded with a few randomly selected students of the upcoming batch 2020-22 introducing themselves and sharing their expectations from the PGDM course and their two years to be spent at LBSIM.
