MICA Announces Centre For Media And Entertainment Studies

MICA, India’s premier management school for Strategic Marketing and Communication, has set up a new academic centre viz. Centre for Media and Entertainment Studies (CMES).

The Centre is a strategic initiative from MICA, to build a collaborative platform for Academia, Researchers, Policy Makers and the Media &Entertainment industry.  CMES will endeavor to build the much needed bridge between Academia and the Media & Entertainment Industry, to build knowledge, initiate research and support the training needs of the Industry.   CMES will also initiate programs for students, practitioners and professionals, to build future leaders for the Media & Entertainment Industry.   Speaking about the Centre, MICA President Madhukar Kamath said, “The FICCI – KPMG 2016 report projects the Indian Media & Entertainment Industry to be at INR 2260 billion by 2020.  The double digit growth, year on year, requires not just leaders but also specialized training programmes for the upgradation of professional and managerial skills.   More importantly, the need of the hour according to MICA is the creation of knowledge and the vital bridging of the gap between Academia and Industry.   The MICA Centre for Media & Entertainment Studies is a direct outcome of our continuous interaction with a wide cross section of Industry leaders’’.

MICA is also happy to announce the appointment of Prof. Darshan Trivedi as the Head of the Centre for Media & Entertainment Studies.  Prof. Darshan Trivedi comes on Board as an Assistant Professor in the Media and Entertainment Management Area (MEM).  Prof. Trivedi has a Masters in Development Communication (Gold medalist) and a PhD in Sociology & Law from Gujarat National Law University.  He has close to two decades of Industry experience with Sony Entertainment Television, Radio Mirchi, Zoom Entertainment Networks, Reliance Broadcast Network, etc.
