MICA Community welcomes Prof. Shailendra Raj Mehta
Amidst cheers and celebrations, MICA Governing Council ,Faculty, Staff, Students and Members of MICA community welcomed Prof. Shailendra Raj Mehta as the President and Director of MICA. Prof. Mehta has also been appointed as Distinguished Professor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at MICA.
Dean of MICA, Dr. Preeti Shroff along with Dr. Tridip Suhrud, Chairperson of the MICA Governing Council welcomed Prof. Mehta to MICA and discussed the role of a strong leader during the transition phase. Dr. Suhrud said, with Dr. Mehta has its President and Director; MICA is poised for path-breaking academic initiatives and global partnerships and collaborations for holistic development and progress. He described Dr. Mehta is a thought leader who is primarily engaged with creation of new ideas, research and innovation which are the trademark of MICA, The School of Ideas. He asked to be patient with Prof. Shailendra Mehta and allow him to translate his ideas into concrete academic activities on the ground as innovative ideas take time to germinate and materialise on a global scale.
Dr. Suhrud on the behalf of the Governing Council expressed that they have immense confidence and are well assured with Dr. Shailendra Mehta taking up the leadership of MICA. Dr. Shroff said that they were extremely excited to have Prof. Shailendra Mehta as their new President and Director and thanked Dr. Suhrud for his immense support, guidance and help in making this smooth transition in leadership of this unique institution. Dr. Binod C. Agarwal, the first director of MICA took the audience through the historical evolution of MICA and wished Dr. Mehta and the MICA community, good luck in taking MICA forward in their pursuit of to becoming a globally renowned instituton of excellence.
Welcoming Dr. Shailendra Mehta and Mrs. Neena Mehta to the MICA family they were each presented with a shawl. Prof. Shubra Gaur presenting him the book, Dance of the Peacock by Usha R. Balakrishnan and Meera Sushil Kumar. A portrait of Dr. Mehta, sketched by MICA’s own Prof. Pravin Mishra, was also unveiled and presented to the President and Director.
The event culminated with a mesmerizing Hindustani Classical music rendition followed by a dinner at campus for all the guests & MICA community.
