MICAns INTERN WITH THE UNITED NATIONS (UN) AGENCIES

Over the course of the summer, MICAns from the PGP-2 batch embarked on various summer internships with various companies in roles related to strategic marketing and communication. Some of them had the opportunity to do a month long second internship. Two students from the batch, Shreya Ramakrishnan and Rashi Motiani had the opportunity to work with UN Agencies in their second internship.

Shreya Ramakrishnan

Shreya had the opportunity to intern with the World Health Organisation’s Western Pacific Regional Office, in Manila, Philippines. She chose to apply to WHO to further explore MICA’s idea of studying business in a well rounded manner. Her internship helped explore the application of marketing and communication strategies to the development communication sector.

She says, “As a communications intern, the work centered around aiding WHO WPRO’s efforts at communicating to all stakeholders as the authority on global public health. I had the opportunity to work on drafting content for students, redesigning the website according to visitor profiles and creating a template for visualizing donor reports. Additionally, the internship involved a 3 day regional communications workshop of global communications officers at the WHO which was a great opportunity to gain insight of the work done in other countries and interact in a multicultural environment.”

Rashi Motiani

Rashi interned with the United Nations Development Programme in New Delhi. She says, “Exploring the development sector and understanding project processes, for a cause, on a larger scale is a field I have always been inclined towards. As a part of project Disha at the UNDP, I got to work on and understand the agricultural scenario of Telangana. I did research, documentation, and prepared a proposal note, interacted with implementing agencies. I am now eagerly looking forward to the successful implementation of 17 Self Development Groups across countries in the near future.”
