LBSIM Delhi Conference

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi, organized the National HR Conference 2019 on the theme, "Business Excellence Through Enhanced Human Capital: The Changing Face of People Practices" on November 30, 2019. The inaugural session started with the screening of a short film on our nation's leader, Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, and the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

Prof. D.K. Srivastava, Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi, delivered the welcome address. He appreciated the Institute's endeavour of organising the conference every year. He also shared his strong opinion on human resources being important for any organisation and welcomed the guests.

This was followed by an address of Dr. Moni Mishra, Conference Convener, who welcomed everyone and spoke about the agenda of the Conference, its significance and need. She talked about Human Resource strategies 4.0 needed for Industry 4.0 challenges and the advanced capabilities that need to be developed by organisations to help them execute their roles and responsibilities.

The chief guest for the conference, Mr. Kumar Bagrodia, Founder & CEO, NeuroLeap, addressed the audience. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Oxford, is a Country Champion and Ambassador for the Oxford Business Alumni in India. He is a member of the national startup council of CII and is a member of Apex Council of the India Innovation Initiative by the Government of India. He has been a speaker at leading podiums including the Bombay Stock Exchange ,and has chaired international leader sessions in Israel, China, Singapore and has spoken at fora with the support of Australian Government, United Nations Environment Program, the Government of India to name a few. He held an interactive session where he discussed with students subjects like the key issues facing industry and HR becoming increasingly important. Citing examples of companies which failed or succeeded because of their adaptability to change, he spoke on workplace functioning and how people play the role of most important asset of any company.

The key note address was delivered by Mr. Nishith Upadhyaya, Head, Knowledge and Advisory Services, SHRM India. He presented the theme," LBSIM- Navigating Paradigms" and briefed the students on what paradigms are and their importance, quoting in between Hans Rosling, his theories and work. "The world is moving towards better health and wealth continuously. Jobs are evolving in asymmetrical ways", he said, while sharing his own experiences. Also, he touched upon topics like globalisation and regionalisation and quoted, "Paradigms may change, Values Don't". He ended his speech by advising the students to gain knowledge and read regularly and comprehensively.

The Institute then welcomed Sh. Anil Shastri, Chairman, Board of Governors, who joined the Conference.

The stage was then handed over to Ms.Richa Ramola, Senior Vice-President & Head HR, Landmark Insurance. She delivered the message that getting to understand more about people behaviour is something which will help a person become a leader. She talked about the changing face of HR, the need to develop new skill sets and capability to adapt to change. "The HR today needs to go out in the field and find the factors they need to drive in the employees", she added.

The conference also witnessed the unveiling of the book, “Wealth Management”, authored by Dr. Anuj Verma, Institute faculty and co-authored by Deepak Tandon, Pankaj Baag, and Nitin Saxena by the dignitaries present on the occasion.

Mementos were presented by Dr. D.K. Srivastava, & Dr. G.L.Sharma to the guests as token of appreciation.

Dr. G. L. Sharma, Advisor-Corporate Interface, LBSIM, Delhi, ended the session by delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the LBSIM Fraternity.

The Technical session of the Conference was chaired by Prof. Punam Sehgal, Former Dean & Professor of Organization Behavior, IIM Lucknow, a Management Consultant and Behavioral Science Trainer. Several Papers were presented on the topic which covered Employee Empowerment leads, employee loyalty and the role of HR in an organization followed by a Q&A Session.

 The conference ended with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Charu Shri, Faculty, LBSIM, Delhi.
