Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar organised a plantation drive in the campus premises of the institute on the occasion of Banamahotsav 2019. In the aftermath of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani, the once lush green city of Bhubaneswar was transformed into a barren city within a few hours. The lashing rain and the unforgiving winds razed down most of the trees present in the city, including the ones present in the sprawling campus of XIMB. The event was graced by the District Forest Officer, Mr Kedar Kumar Swain. He mentioned about their plan of planting 1.3 crore trees in the state as a step to ensure the forest cover. Various institutions, schools would be a part of this drive, XIMB being one of them where around 100 trees were planted today.

Plantation

The plantation drive was undertaken to restore the greenery of the campus and witnessed a lot of enthusiastic students and faculty members who came forward to plant the saplings at designated spots in the premises of the campus.  Previously, XIMB had opened its door for the underprivileged to take shelter during the cyclonic storm Fani till things turned to normalcy. The plantation drive was a huge success, owing to the overwhelming participation from the students and the esteemed faculties. Committed to the improvement of the society, the plantation drive was another stepping stone for XIMB.
