TAPMI hosted the first ever edition of Cobcam: Confluence of Banking and Capital Markets 2015 during which eminent professionals and leaders from the banking space, capital markets and also from the regulatory domain shared their views on hot topics and interacted with students. Cobcam was hosted by the PGDM BKFS (Banking and Financial Services) programme which was launched in the academic year 2014-15.
The chief guest for CobCam 2015 was Mr. S. Ravindran, Executive Director of SEBI. The event was inaugurated with his keynote speech on SEBI’s role, and the importance of corporate governance.
During the two enlightening days of COBCAM 2015, three panel discussions were organized on “Corporate Governance”, “Financial Inclusion”, and “India On the threshold of Global meltdown” The guests were Dr. Prabhakar Reddy Patil, CGM, SEBI, Mr. Amit Chakarabarty, VP, CFA Institute, Mr. Ravi Gautam, SVP, Northern Trust, Mr. Sridhar Seshadri, Financial Controller, DCB, Mr. Madhav Nair, Country Head, Mashreq Bank, Mr. Shreenivas Kunte, Director, CFA Institute, Mr. J K Vishwanath, CRO, DCB,Ms. AratiPorwal, Director, CFA Institute, Mr. Saurav Mishra, VP, Deutsche Bank, Mr. Arijit Mukherjee, SVP, Anand Rathi, Mr. Rajarshri Banerjee, VP, Axis Bank. The Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, Mr. Vishal Ravi heightened the excitement levels as he was one of the panelists for the discussion on “India On the threshold of Global meltdown.There were also two guests’ lectures on: Wealth Management by Mr. Arijit Mukherjee, SVP, AnandRathi, and Banking Valuation by Mr. ShreenivasKunte, Director, CFA Institute.
A highlight of Cobcam 2015 which set it apart from many similar events was the mentoring sessions, which were semi-formal interactive sessions held at TAPMI’s international level Bloomberg Lab,during which the eminent industry professionals shared their knowledge and experience about careers in the banking and capital markets space with students of the BKFS programme. These were extremely useful to the aspirants since the guests guided the students and gave them much sought after advice on industry practices, skills set required, challenges faced in their respective finance domain, interview preparation and much more.
The BKFS and PGDM-finance students of TAPMI were enlightened with the shared by these elite guests. Under the guidance of highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, hardworking faculty and management who guided the students at every stage of the event, CobCam 2015 was a grand success.
