Xavier School of Commerce – Masters in Business Finance (XSC - MBF) will be hosting its annual business conclave, Privitti, on August 5th, 2018. The conclave intends to give the students of MBF a holistic view, binding the past and the future prospects the banking system holds. The theme for the event is “Indian Banks: Past Reflections and Future Ambitions”.
The Indian banking sector has been in a state of turmoil, facing a financial crisis with the quantity of non-performing assets (NPA) growing at an exponential rate. In FY18, the banking system reported a net loss of Rs 40,000 crore because of the sharp rise in NPAs and the resulting increase in provisioning costs. The RBI has initiated vigilante measures and strengthened its regulatory framework. In addition, SBI is set to set to have a blockchain-based exchange for bad debts. SBI is working with over 30 banks to develop a common platform that will enable data-driven price discovery. What the future holds for the banking sector is an enticing question with no definite answer.
The event will be graced by three eminent industry veterans addressing the above-mentioned issue and imparting their knowledge to the students. The speakers include Mr. Naveen Goel (Vice president and Country Head- Supply Chain Finance, IndusInd Bank), Mr. Vijay Pandey (Associate Vice President, Mango Financial Advisors LLP) and Mr. Prithviraj Srinivas (Chief Economist, Axis Capital).
