Xavier Universityto host the much-awaited third edition of TEDxXIMB

After the two successful stints in previous years, XIMB & Xavier University will organise the third edition of TEDxXIMB on 24 January 2016. TED is a non-profit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. XIMB has been hosting TEDx for the past two years. The third edition of TEDxXIMB to be held at the XIMB Auditorium promises to be yet another enriching experience, with speakers from diverse backgrounds.

Co-founder and VP, Engineering at Saankhya Labs, Mr. Hemant Mallapur will also attend the event to speak about how White Space technology from Saankhya Labs will help create a World-Deep-Web that takes internet to the 3 Billion people who don’t have it yet. Mr. Deep Mukherjee who heads Talent- Commentary and Broadcast at Star Sports will enlighten the attendees about the initiatives for ‘massification’ of sports in India.

In addition to the inspiring talks and confluence of ideas, members of the Mayur Art Center, which is devoted to the training, preservation, performance and research of Mayurbhanj style of Chhaudance will perform at the event.

As all TED Talks, this one too aims to deliver ‘ideas worth spreading’. Students of XIMB have toiled for the past two months to scale up this year’s TED Talk, persuading the brightest minds to share their ideas on this platform. The campus is abuzz with excitement for the event, and it is evident that so is the rest of Bhubaneswar. Tickets are available on BookMyShow for the general public to buy. The event begins at 2:00 pm and is expected to go on till 7 pm. It is divided into 2 sessions with an hour break for interaction with the speakers.

Xavier University has always been committed to helping society, from events such as Street-Store, Mass Sapling Donations, and the list goes on. The University absorbs students and delivers socially responsible managers with a strong sense of belongingness to the society, and the need to give back to it.
