XLRI CELEBRATED “ENSEMBLE 2016"

 

XLRI- Xavier School of Management, one of India’s premier B-Schools recently celebrated its Annual Management Summit “ENSEMBLE 2016” with great fervor. The theme of “Ensemble 2016” was “Be The Business" - which implied to be the best at what one does.

The event was inaugurated in presence of Dr. Ashis K Pani (Dean – Academics, XLRI), Fr. S George (Dean – Administration, XLRI), Fr. Antony Uvari (Associate Dean – Student Affairs & Administration) and other dignitaries.  Syed Kirmani, legendary cricketer and part of 1983 World Cup winning team was the Guest of Honour for the event.

 

 

Addressing the students at the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Kirmani elaborated how leadership plays an important role in all aspects of life. He emphasised on the need of sincere effort and hard work in achieveing success. Taking the example of their World Cup winning feat, Mr Kirmani said, “As leaders of tomorrow, the students must strive to be the best and lay the foundation for future generations to achieve even higher”. He explained how important it is to enjoy life and to adapt to the situation and not fret over small things. “One must always be happy and learn to take care of oneself, both physically and mentally”, he said.

With a legacy of 16 years, Ensemble is among the most awaited events in the business school circuit. ‘Ensemble 2016’ has participation from over 4000 teams from top 30 B-Schools including IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-L, FMS, IIM-S, NMIMS and MDI and industry partners like Central Bank of India, Pulse, SBI, FreeCharge, Yes Bank, Coke Studio, Sleepwell my mattress, Raj Outdoor Advertising, Aapno Rajasthan, BruBeck, Subway, LaGravitea, Medieval Meals, Anupam Mughlai and Rollick. Along with intense competitions, the 3-day event also witnessed an array of entertaining cultural and sporting events. Over 40 events were held in 3 days cutting across all business domains, from finance and marketing to operations, IR and HR with aspiring business leaders across the country fighting for prize money worth Rs. 17 Lakhs.

Events like War of Wits (the flagship HR event), Helios (the flagship Operations event), Strike or Yield (the flagship event in IR), Genesis (the flagship entrepreneurship event) Poseidon and Apollo (domain events of BM and HR) along with the flagship events of Ensemble - The Next Gen Leader, Circus Maximus, and Mock United Nations witnessed intense competitions among teams from the participating institutes.

Another major event of Ensemble has been the Idea Summit. This year, the Idea Summit saw presence of Dr. Seema Rao, India's First Woman Commando Trainer, Mr. Ramakant Gaur, famed Supreme Court Lawyer, Nikhil Chandwani, well-known author, filmamker, hollywood documentary director and a script writer as the eminent speakers.

To add to the fun quotient, Ensemble 2016 had hosted various programmes like - screening of short movies and MasterChef – a culinary competition, debate events like Advocatus Diaboli and CASH Debate, Dumb Charades, face painting were also lined-up.

 “ENSEMBLE 2016” also organized a series of cultural events including tribal dance performance to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Jharkhand, Comedy Nights with Sorabh Pant, stand-up comedy star from East India Comedy.

The biggest highlight of the event was the Lucky Ali Concert. Lucky Ali sang his well-known songs and amazed the crowd that was already filled with enthusiasm.
