ITM University, Gurgaon, recently organized a four-day Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Programme, aimed at sharpening the communication skills of newly inducted faculty members.
The Induction Training Programme, which was based on "Communication Skills: Instructional Planning and Delivery”, was conducted by the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh.
The programme focused on training professors to communicate a message effectively, and inventing new channels of communication between professors and students. Professors were made to attend a session on two-way communication process in which they were taught how to reach out to students in a more exciting and engaging way.
“I have faith in my faculty members because of their ability to transmit knowledge and skills as also values at the same time. The art of communication involves listening, speaking, reading and writing. Professors need to be highly skilled in all these areas to excel. This initiative will not only make them more proficient, but also help produce quality students,” says Prof B S Panwar, Vice Chancellor, ITM University, Gurgaon.
In today’s competitive business world and difficult economy, effective communication skill training is more essential than ever before, he said, adding, “It is the foundation on which companies and careers are built and so it is a crucial component for lasting success.”
